I'd like to clarify I never described it as a punishment, by the by. I understand it's something they all do. I also concede I didn't know IRyS was only 2 weeks because that was going to be my main concern (honestly, I'm losing track of the days after a year of lockdowns and shit).
So, thank you for your clarification.
Personally, though, I still don't really like it. I understand the necessity of establishing a core audience, but don't necessarily buy that a generation cannibalising their own initial watchers during that one month is really any different to collaborating with another member outside of that generation.
It also isn't sensitive to individual talents, either. For example, we knew exactly what Calli's and Ina's talents were going to be as early as their debut, but it took a whole month before Kiara had the ability to let her talents shine through, which is even more baffling when a recent Hololive interview confirmed that Kiara was hired for her Japanese proficiency.
I don't necessarily believe the rule should be scrapped outright, but I definitely think it could do with being more malleable to unearth people's talents nice and quickly. Maybe something like 'Okay it's 1 month before you can go off and do your own thing, but Kiara can host a quiz show with EN and JP members at the end of the first week to promote you and also show his strong she is at this talent' kind of thing.
Or at least 'You can entire the JP Minecraft server you just can't VC with anyone yet' so people aren't concerned IRyS is going to be punished for something that is pretty inconsequential.
I'd also like to mention this discussion has largely stemmed from a post where I was actually defending Cover, that they wouldn't punish IRyS for something so meaningless. Just in case people are thinking otherwise again.
