General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

This got me thinking: the sperg power fueling this thread is extremely strong. This may sound crazy, but do you think vtubers can get whole subforum here, on Kiwi Farms? Can autism bloom on the battlefield? (A subforum will most likely not be created and that's good, because it would probably kill this thread.)

Jersh hates this thread and hates all anime. It's an absolute miracle we haven't been shitcanned months ago. He's been completely open about how he despises the fact this thread is so active. I think if it wasn't, he'd quietly move it to spergatory and hope nobody complained.

I love it.

I'd like to clarify I never described it as a punishment, by the by. I understand it's something they all do. I also concede I didn't know IRyS was only 2 weeks because that was going to be my main concern (honestly, I'm losing track of the days after a year of lockdowns and shit).

So, thank you for your clarification.

Personally, though, I still don't really like it. I understand the necessity of establishing a core audience, but don't necessarily buy that a generation cannibalising their own initial watchers during that one month is really any different to collaborating with another member outside of that generation.

It also isn't sensitive to individual talents, either. For example, we knew exactly what Calli's and Ina's talents were going to be as early as their debut, but it took a whole month before Kiara had the ability to let her talents shine through, which is even more baffling when a recent Hololive interview confirmed that Kiara was hired for her Japanese proficiency.

I don't necessarily believe the rule should be scrapped outright, but I definitely think it could do with being more malleable to unearth people's talents nice and quickly. Maybe something like 'Okay it's 1 month before you can go off and do your own thing, but Kiara can host a quiz show with EN and JP members at the end of the first week to promote you and also show his strong she is at this talent' kind of thing.

Or at least 'You can entire the JP Minecraft server you just can't VC with anyone yet' so people aren't concerned IRyS is going to be punished for something that is pretty inconsequential.

I'd also like to mention this discussion has largely stemmed from a post where I was actually defending Cover, that they wouldn't punish IRyS for something so meaningless. Just in case people are thinking otherwise again.💀
I get you don't like it, and that's okay, I can understand not liking it.

I think it's not trying to be sensitive to their talents, they need them to be able to establish themselves individually. That said, you are right and Kiara wouldn't take off until the ban was lifted, but that plays into what I said where they have that month to plan with senpai. The ban isn't they can't talk to senpai, just can't collab, so it's very possible having that month to plan and prep helped Kiara.

Plenty of things can benefit from being more malleable, I don't disagree, but I see the sentiment passed around in a lot of places that this stifles the talents or hurts them, which is bad because it gives a bad impression of an otherwise thoughtful policy. Edit: That has done plenty of good.

Ya, the panic was weird, no one's been punished before for this either. Part of the thing about having someone show you around is so you don't get lost or feel defeated, it can be rough to "find your place" in a largely established server.

I know you don't hate Cover or Hololive, I stayed out of the discussion raging at you for that reason. You're good man, I just wanted to put my thoughts out there and you gave me the chance to, I thank you for said chance and for being so receptive.
just to add, Luller's right about it being the individual talents trying to stand on their own two feet. Even collabing with their genmates have brought out the shit in some "fans", especially if their genmate is more successful. Best example is Coco. If I'm not mistaken, Kanata and Watame were said to be leeching off Coco. It did a good number of both of them because they felt like they had impostor syndrome (I think). Now imagine how much worse it could be if they could collab with their seniors from the get go whom, depending who we choose, have higher sub counts. The pure shit flinging as monkeys about trying to leech viewers would be much worse I feel.

I also understand cannibalising their main (EOP) viewer base maybe bad for business but the way I see it, its trying to convert these viewers into fulltime "I watch X talent". What's better than a viewer that goes around the different talents, tuning in every now and then? A die hard viewer who makes it a point to not miss X talent, maybe even throw some supas or joins the membership. How do we do this? A collab ban of not too long of a time (in this case ~30 days) with other branches other than your genmates. Why same gen collabs are still ok? We wanna draw in the rest of the viewer base, maybe during this same gen collab, they find someone they wanna follow.

I agree it should be a lil more flexible, especially with some games that don't really work well solo eg. Minecraft, ARK, APEX (unless you're a certain onion cat maid) but we shouldn't be clutching out pearls everytime someone runs into a different branch member or going "YABE" at the thought of what management is gonna do. When you run around in a small enough circle, you're gonna run into people you know/recognize.

Essentially, it comes down to applied common sense. But if anything these last two years and/or how COVER has handled some things.. common sense is not as common as we think it is.

Null already did that once, only got it back thanks to @moments fade pain remains explaining why the thread exists and why we go full monke over 2D avatars lol

Just coming to say that this Calli x IRyS collab was splendid all around. This game is really in their area and Calli successfully played into the senpai role. Kinda gave me some Calli x Reine vibes.

E: Calli giving IRyS permission to call her "dumbass" and "slave," LMAO

I'm not really following anything on Kiwi Farms besides this thread and some others in Multimedia, but from I have seen (Josh allowing "our animu girl funeral" before he started testing some things on the website, as well as mentioning us in his statement about that guy's supposed suicide) he kind of warmed up to us, or at least this was my impression. Did he express any concern/bemusement/vitriol directly about this thread?

Null already did that once
Been there, done that. It was... something.

We know he simps Noel, but we keep it a open secret so he doesnt get mad at us
I see Josh liking Towa, Ayame, or Aqua

There are people addicted to vtubers and some have formed strong parasocial relationships, but I think Watame represents the other side: she is addicted to streaming, interacting with audience and just wants to entertain you, this is what she lives for. Remember when management "forced" her to take a break? During that time she released pre-recorded videos anyway, not to lose contact with the viewers.
Parasocial relationships work both ways. Not just watame but I hope everyone can have relationships off line and not rely entirely on online interactions for their validation even if it is their job.

After typing that the thought of Aki still bothers me and makes me think why her and watame dont Collab more or interact more i feel like they would suit each other very well

Long time sheep fan, she is the other side of it and so is Miko. They unironically love their chat, they don't like being away from us. Makes sense considering how few friends they used to have, a massive audience of people supporting and caring this hard is hard to not attach to. Still, she seems fine and things stay healthy enough.

Absolutely fucking insane. To give you a picture, this thread has the 3rd biggest number of posts in this forum but this thread also has the biggest post growth per month of all time.

This thread also has 4th biggest views but remember that this thread is barely a year old while the bigger ones are several years old. So this thread also has the biggest view / traffic growth per month of all time.

Basically, both post and view count will overtake them all to be the number 1 in the matter of some months forward.

And all of these while inside a Multimedia sub.

As for own sub, please no lol. Kinda comfortable this way.

Yeah I remember mentioning some stuff along these lines a little while ago. There are threads with more pages and what not but as you say that have been going for YEARS to get to where they are today. I remember when Coco Grad was happening, there was 20+ pages for just that 2 hour event alone and the great leader even came to say we was out performing the twitter shitstorm thread going at the time which was on the frontpage for all to see.
Well, if he just took the Pippa Pill he'd be happier and chill. I mean Pippa already knows Kiwi fucking Farms loves her, this is just the next step.
I imagine it be real fucking funny, if it even did happen by some stretch of the imagination, that he would become her biggest fan and falls proper deep into the rabbit hole. Something about that amuses me greatly.

Mangagamer is debuting a couple of vtubers based off the main characters of the educational visual novel Go Go Nippon!. Here are their intro vids.

I'm conflicted on this.
On one hand, this is smart marketing.
On the other, it's artificial as hell.

lolno.
I'd rather this didn't get a subforum, unless there are lolcows to get milked.
Just enjoy talking talking about the topic without rocking the boat.

We also talk about a lot of random shit, hopping from subject to subject within seconds. So we are basically the Gura of Kiwifarms lol!

I know a yellow band means fall risk but what does a red one mean?
My googling is ending up in mixed signals, but it refers to specific kinds of medication that cannot be mismatched, seemingly.
Makes sense as she basically got two massive incisions to remove breast tissue and the potential for infections is alarming if some nurse fucks up and gives her the wrong medication!

Also refers to allergies according to my googling. Like I said, mixed signals!

The Wu, MovieBob and Chris-Chan updates threads are years older and active every single day, and this one beat them in page numbers. As I said before, we talk a lot lol!
