Chris gave me access to his emails years ago to help out a while back during the Joshua Wise situation. I've had access since. Chris is aware i have access to his emails, and after changing his passwords recently gave me access to them again. I've helped him deal with trolls signing him up for spam and newsletters and other things like that.

I was going to send Chris his GoFundMe money, but after talking it over and sleeping on it, I've canceled the payment and I've asked GoFundMe to do a total refund.

I told Chris last night to spend one night sleeping in his vehicle, and that this morning I would help him figure out a way to have a roof over his head until August 5th. I suggested that he take some time under the stars to reflect on his situation.

Every so often, Chris gets an email alert that Barb has sent him money. I've always been under the impression that Barb tightly manages his finances and sends him a pittance. However, to my surprise, at 12:38am this morning (so less than 8 hours ago), Barb sent Chris $750.

I think 'being done' (if by being done you mean washing your hands entirely of Chris) is a bit harsh. You did the right thing by notifying the police but as a friend/internet dad/whatever that doesn't mean you have to give up on him on a personal level. If he is eventually convicted of rape or something then cutting all ties is understandable, but this whole incident is so early there's not even charges, and even if he's admitted to things, he doesn't necessarily understand what he is even admitting to. Chris is fucked in the head and his head's been fucked with, that does not justify his actions, but because of his autism he is very susceptible to outside influences which nurtured the kind of thinking and behavior that likely led to this, so it's not entirely on him either. His popularity has made him a giant target for manipulation and his mental state has been worsening in recent years. Bottom line, while Chris is fucked up and does and says fucked up things, he is not a malicious force in the world, but rather a product of a malicious world, or at worst something between.

Your under no obligation to help Chris. It's not your responsibility. You should definitely should stay away from the legal and business things and avoid vidicating yourself in anyway, especially if all public opinion turns against him, or this really does lead to some serious consequences... but do you really want it on your personal conscience if his electric hedgehog adventure ends like Terry's? If you abandon him now he has very few people already to lean on, after this incident becomes widely know, probably none that he can truly trust, not even his mother this time. He will be truly alone for the first time in his life and possibly at the most chaotic period of his existence. I don't know how close you truly are but if you really care about him as a human you shouldn't just give up on the personal relationship out of nowhere when he probably needs you the most.

Just to clarify about mental institutions and why so many of them got shut down-it wasn't because of bleeding hearts, or liberalism, or the book "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

It was because they were literal pitch-black hellholes full of rape, neglect, and abuse.

Willowbrook was touted as the best institution in the country and that's what it actually looked like.

Some of it makes sense. If people can misgender Chris and get away with it, they can do it with anyone. There are probably a lot of useful idiot types who go along with this line of thinking. IMO the reality is most of these people have done stuff that's as equally fucked up and they don't want to lose their troon shield over it.
