Gimmick Account Twitter / '_________' posting their Ls/Ws / '_________' Out of Context - Unnecessary soapboxes, e-begging, >not posting on main, terminally online posters, "You are blocked from following _______"

Does a BRAND™ account theoretically count as a gimmick account?

I'm not going to be surprised if one of you points me towards a pre-existing BRAND™ account thread here, but I'm legitimately asking if a BRAND™ account should be considered a gimmick account.

And if so, how can you even tell when these post-post-post-modernist-unironic-ironic humor BRAND™ accounts are actually breaking their gimmicks? Like if the SteakUms account manager actually had a mental breakdown and threatened to blow up an airport in Roblox by this point I'd just think it was one of their marketing strategies.

Or that they'd just blow up an airport in Roblox in the name of Steakums, murdering dozens of children's avatars in cold (low-resolution) blood.

The only one of these accounts that I actually enjoyed was Journos Posting Their L's, because it had funny shit like fat feminists from Slate tweeting about how they wrote an article to advocate cheating in a relationship, and now as a result no man will date them anymore. Stuff like that's funny, but they hardly update anymore.

Just remembered one of the worst Gimmick account downfalls of all time. When Twitter was young (late 2000s) somebody made an account LARPing as God. They used to be funny and the screencaps were shared on all the meme sites for tweeting stuff like "ooo don't make me come down there!". It was really popular, however I think they got banned for being a meme account, Twitter was more strict about that back in the day.

Someone else made a new one now that Twitter just does not care anymore, but it's all CNN-tier unfunny bullshit. Obligatory to say: The left cannot meme and they think snark political statements are exactly equal to comedy. Ice cold Democratic party takes do not suddenly become funny if you put them next to a LARP avatar.

Oh god (no pun intended), it reminds me of the current state of The Onion.

That one got banned a couple weeks ago because some journalist complained about being posted. Whoever it was wrote some extremely dumbass article that was absolutely deserving of mockery. A shame, that was a good gimmick account.

Remember the Dog Rater account or whatever it was called, where it was revealed the account was run by a cynical millennial with a rich father and he did it solely to make money? That account had a lot of sponsored tweets for shit like the Dumbo live-action movie and stuff like that. That's a classic example of a shitty gimmick account.

Ah, that explains it: I haven't seen them update in a while, so I didn't even bother to check that they got banned.

Jesus Christ, talk about the sad state of comedy these days.

Shit gimmick account but the person behind it was a genius. Made money piss-easy without effort and mooched off internet retards that like "THE DOGGOS"

Dunno if we should have a seperate thread or already do for this, but if we’re talking about corporate gimmick accounts, I suggest putting Wendy’s as top criminal in the proverbial Nuremberg trial. Every unfunny, self-aware ironic fagshit corpo Social media account finds its inspiration there.

But then it trickled down into any retard thinking they could make a ton of internet clout or money by being “witty”, “ironic”, or “good”. Now we get the disaster of gimmick accounts and “funni corpo twitter acct wholesome 100 i am a soulless shill please end me”

Gimmick Account Twitter could easily support several of its own CW threads just because there are so many of them out there: corporate gimmick, satirical gimmick, animal gimmick etc etc etc.

That said, I'm a fan of Titania McGrath. (S)he has stuck with the gimmick for years. Whilst it's getting a bit stale and isn't quite in the middle of zeitgeist as it was back in 2018, I'm still amused by how they still manage to fool people from both sides of the political spectrum.

In terms of BRAND™ Twitter, the most notable examples in my opinion are Wendy's and as I mentioned before, Steak-Umms.

Wendy's kicked off the EPIC ROAST REPLYGUY thing which every other corp has beaten into the fucking dirt by this point. They're the most notable example.

Steak-umms is one rare, radical extreme of the BRAND™ account spectrum; corpos who know they know nothing about selling to the modern zoomer so they just hand the account to a minimum wage worker and promise they can say whatever they want so long as they think it'll appeal to people. The account manager could probably drop THE GREAT N and not get into trouble.

The other side of the coin would be something like Pizza Hut which got trolled into doing a fist-bump with the cupcake-loving child-molesting EDP, and of course lost their shit and probably sent the account manager into the incinerator. Shallow, spineless corporate accounts that take no risks but still want to be edgy and cool and appeal to them cynical zoomerz

I think Brand Twitter should be it's own thread. The difference between BrandTwt and GimmickTwt is the difference between Jeffery Epstein and Nick Bate: they both do the same shit, but both have different flavors and scale, if that makes sense.

Would either thread be worth the division, or would it perhaps be better to merge them under the same thread-umbrella?

I could try and compile a corpo twitter thread if people think it's worth its own. It'd be funny considering I don't actually have a twitter account myself.

The division would be worth it imo. A BrandTwt thread would feature political pandering, "hello fellow kids"-ing, "scandals" on Twitter trending, and probably Kaczynski-posts out the ass. This thread, if what's been posted so far is anything to go off of, will mostly be making fun of autistic nobodies looking for quick clout.
