But in all seriousness... in a healthy world, the mainstream media coverage of CWC would mark a turning point when all people see Chris as a reflection of todays societal ills. Also, what will the CWC sub-forum do after all this is over? Chris tied up and raped his elderly mother. I feel like her dementia isn't nearly as bad as they've claimed. I know she supposedly plays it up for the camera but when she's in front of a judge, I expect that she'll sober up quick. She's always kind of protected Chris, although when it's her ass versus Chris', it'll be interesting to see what path that takes for sure, if she's the "sober" party here, having consentual sex with your autistic child is a bad look for sure.

I expect the trial to goes as follows:

Chris vs Sober, Consenting Barb: Barb serves time and Chris getting help or put into a mental institution as Chris would be the one being taken advantage of in this situation.

Chris vs Dementia'd, Consenting Barb: Both of them end up being placed in a mental facility as both are clearly unwell. Chris might possibly still serve time.

Chris vs Nonconsenting Barb: Regardless of if Barb is dementia'd or not, Chris would get jail time for either of these scenarios and Barb would be placed into a home.

I believe Chris has at least a 50/50 chance of jail time vs being placed in an institution when all scenarios are considered, if not higher. There is almost a 100% chance Chris is not going to walk out of this unscathed. Depending on Barb's defense and position, even if she was consenting, if she chooses to throw Chris under the bus to avoid any charges herself there is enough evidence with the texts & voice call to back up that she was raped or at the very least, coerced.

Hearing a normal barb after years of "My name is Barbara Chandler" would be refreshing

Chris won't be sent to jail. There are people that are less convincing at being clinically labeled "crazy" from state standards and they are still sent to a mental institution instead of prison.
Chris is literally mentally challenged according to US law. He is getting monthly financial support from the government cause he is mentally challenged and unable to self sustain. He is crazy and will be sentenced with that in mind. The judge, the jury, they aren't going to question if he is, or isn't crazy, they aren't going to discuss if the evidences show he is mentally challenged.

The state, the government, already did that for them and according to the US, Chris Chan is mentally impaired, there is no discussion.

I know the meme answer is prison but my guess is he’ll be in a mental hospital for the rest of his life. He clearly can’t function on his own.

I'm not too sure about that. If Barb comes out as being a willing participant or grooming Chris, her past as a mother and grandmother may also be brought up. If that's the case, her other kids that she's been abusive to may end up testifying or even coming out with stories of sexual abuse themselves, which will be an absolutely horrifying addition to this.

I don't think they let convicted sexual abusers just go to a group home, but I could be wrong.

The problem with dementia is that the effects can vary based on time of day, or due to random factors. So she may be fairly lucid for one video and zoned-out for the next. The fact that she comes off differently at different times is not an indicator that the dementia is played up.

I think it's set up as one incident, but both participants get charged, at least for the party that consented.

I dont think either of them truly consented, which is one of the saddest things. I think at this point both are too far gone to truly understand what they did, and barbs years of creepy groomy behavior and establishing no healthy boundaries with Chris didn't help.

Like I said in a different thread, this is the shit out of a southern gothic novel. Still keeping my fingers crossed for thorough psych evaluations of both.

The gender Chris claims does not matter in this case. There is an escalating severity in VA, and in many states, that coincides with the close proximity of the blood relation as a following for the potential for societal harm. Mother/child is a murky felony, sometimes treated as a misdemeanor in Virginia, other times more severe.

At the arraignment we will fully understand the litany of charges, which will contextualize the approach of the state. There is simply too much in the churn right now to be able to predict how the state will react yet.
