TGWTG Mathew Buck / Film Brain / @FB_BMB - Whiny self-sabotaging British film reviewer, bald as Prince William, thick as Prince Harry. Welshy made him watch porn. He was not pleased. Accidentally took his mum to a sex flick. SYMBOLISM!1!1!1!

You're right that he has kind of lost his sense of humor. He's become afraid to offend and will bash someone if they do something offensive like when he bashed Doug for the Robert Downey Jr. Cocaine joke for Pop Quiz Hotshot when he's done jokes like wishing a critic would be executed for giving a movie a good review.
This is exactly why comedians shouldn't be proselytizing. If you can't have any sort of edge in your humor then you're more or less done making videos people want to see.

Except Ralph sucks and his movies make him look like a hypocrite due to how shit they are.
I think the problem with Ralph is that he puts very little effort into his stuff nowadays. I think it happened right around the time he said he was gonna quit in the Justice League review, or maybe around the time Sardonicast was formed, but something changed about his content.

Most of his videos now are just him lolzing at some washed out Hollywood action stars, like Seagal or Bruce Willis, in which you don't really have to say or criticize much, you just show the clip of Seagal being fat or Willis being lazy and call it a day. Weirdly enough he also seems to be ripping off old Opie and Anthony bits, he did an entire episode on Scorch where he even used some clips from OaA, and the Joe Piscopo episode was nothing but the Joe Piscopo Trilogy but with 70% less funny.

Once in a while he can still put out a good review, but I think the fire is gone. His Joker review was so terrible because he basically admitted that he didn't want to do it and simply forced it out because of the views.

On one hand, he's relatively tame compared to Mr. Dead Pedo, Ms. Weeb Wars Hashtag or Mr. I-Posted-CP-To-Own-Those-Damn-Trolls and is one of the few "well-known" TGWTG reviewers to not get a thread until now.

On the other hand, this man just really depresses me as some who used to watch him.

I say we should wait until he get a big spreg out or something or if he has skeletons that may come out of his closet.

You don't come across as a terrible person, you come across as a pathetic and annoying person. How many times have you done these kind of sob fests on Twitter? How many times have you brought up that you've been acting negative and need to work on that, then you go right back to the same cycle? Just focus on making videos and make something of your life instead of wasting time on Twitter and feeling pity for yourself.

He's still working on the best and worst of 2020 video. https://twitter.com/FB_BMB/status/1421464895720153088

He also did a crossover with Allison on her channel https://twitter.com/AllisonPregler/status/1420795902009225219

His newest Projector is out. It's not a bad review in itself, but it's so utterly pointless.

It's a review of a new Bruce Willis super cheap action flick, like the ones he has been churning out in the past few years, and that were already discussed by Ralphthemoviemaker. Mathew's conclusion is that it's very bad, of course. But people who follow film and film reviews already know that Bruce Willis and Steven Segal are making these shitty movies as a cashgrab. What else is there to say? His audience wasn't really going to watch this movie and they weren't waiting on a review, I'm sure almost no one even knows it exists.

It's not even a British movie released in British theaters first - if Mathew's just going to review new releases on streaming now there must be more interesting choices than this.

The guy is not reviewing movies in theaters because he's petrified of Covid so much so he refused to go to a movie theater because of one other person was in there. He's not seeing movies on streaming services because he either doesn't have the money for it or he's not doing it for some stupid principled reason. So he just has to go with whatever comes out on VOD so basically movies nobody really cares about for the most part.
Edit: I just found the reason that it's because of finanical issues. https://twitter.com/FB_BMB/status/1413834281080823816

I was not aware he was that broke. Too broke to even review the popular movies, what the hell.
It makes sense when you look at the numbers for his patreon and his Youtube channel. For Patreon, he gets paid per video. https://www.patreon.com/FilmBrain

His views aren't that great as he gets 60K views for the entire month for his whole channel. https://socialblade.com/youtube/channel/uc8tdffu8ydsqfdmkhhxrk8q I think CPM is $2 so he gets about $100 a month from all his videos for ad revenue. Again, this is just a guess so I could be off on that. Another issue is that he doesn't make that many videos as he's only done 2 projectors since July 1st. That would be fine if his videos took a lot of time to make, but it's just Film Brain rambling into a camera for hours, then it edits it down while adding Film clips. It can't take that long to make a video if there's no script, effects, or anything overly complicated that would creates issues for him.

And he calls people trolls for suggesting that he should get a job?
Sounds like he needs to get off the high horse. Nothing wrong with having a reliable job while having youtube as a side gig. Even Repzion, who has a thread here, picked up a trade.

The viewership he got after the Mulan video is pitiful, and that was around 10 months ago. Not harsh to say that the writing has been on the wall for a while now.

You can pirate shit, if you don't want to do that plenty of sites with the movies on just to stream for free that are super easy to find unless you are an idiot no one would know.
If you really don't want to do that, can switch between streaming services per month or hell many do free trials not hard to get months of something like mubi or shudder for free, those have plenty of stuff someone could review, I mean if you want a month Disney+ can get a month of gamepass which for new customers costs £1 and bang you got a month of Disney+ as well.

As he is from the UK he has got sites like Channel4 and BBC Iplay which have collections of free movies to watch, and don't even need a tv license for Channel 4 on demand.

But if you aren't making money reviewing to the point you can't pay to even watch the stuff you want to review or even getting screeners, it's time to try and find a real job.

He most likely doesn't want to pirate because he wants the people making the films he's watching to get paid. https://twitter.com/FB_BMB/status/1321546875653283846

Here's the things: Why doesn't Filmbrain make videos on the movies he already owns? He has over 1000 films that he owns that he hasn't watched. So why not actually watch and talk about them so he doesn't have to spend money he doesn't have. https://letterboxd.com/film_brain/
