I could never pity him, even before this latest and worstest chapter in his life became public. It's not because Im without empathy...it's because I could see that even before he raped his mother, he was always a completely selfish, self centered, basically awful person. While what he did to Barb is probably the worst thing he's ever done, at least that we know about, he's hurt people in the past, which is why I was always a bit surprised that people considered him harmless, and I cant recall a time, ever when he's ever done or said anything that ever expressed any empathy or concern for another human or living being.

A lot of people have a propensity to be selfish, but can still show occasional concern for others, but I've never seen that in Chris. He's 100 percent self focused at and cares only about what other people can do for him.
Maybe the reason he got that way was beyond his control. Perhaps he was born missing the part of his brain responsible for empathy. Maybe he had some tiny potential for it when he was young, but the way he was raised kept it from forming, but for whatever reason, he seems to be truly incapable of caring about anyone but himself. So while on an intellectual level I understand that he didn't make himself this way, on an instinctual level, emotional level, the best I can feel towards him is cold, indifference and the worst are revulsion and contempt.

He's never been in real trouble before. The longest he's ever spent locked up was, I think, overnight. He probably expected to go right home after the arraignment just like the last time. I don't think he's fully processed that he doesn't have any control over this situation.

Why not both? A lot of really bad people are somewhat restrained by the knowledge that it could all turn out badly for them. Chris' autism-inspired delusions of grandeur remove that limitation for the most part.

I always thought of him as being someone who lives exclusively for his own pleasure. Like I’ve never seen him as explicitly malicious, more like careless and selfish and only doing what feels good to him.

Before anyone tries to pity Chris, you need to remember that behind his pathetic, wimpy exterior, the dude had a God complex.
