On the first Earth Day, April 22, 1970, the world was warned that billions would die soon because of a disastrous ice age. The Earth had been cooling for thirty years and it was about to get much worse. Crops would not survive the ice age so the people couldn’t be fed, The Earth was cooling even though CO2, the population, and fossil fuel consumption was rising rapidly, which we are told causes warming.

The complicit media dutifully repeated these warnings to scare the public with no questions and no research. The warnings were 100% wrong because they were WAGS (wild a** guesses) instead of based on scientific data.

In 1922, this was in the Washington Post to scare the public. Again, there was no research or questions or scientific data before they published this piece.
The Arctic Ocean is warming, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot. Reports from fishermen and seal hunters all point to a change in climate conditions (global warming) and unheard of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stone, while at many points, wel- known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

In 1989 the UN essentially gave the same warnings as 1922 and again the sycophant media reported it to scare the public with no questions asked because they don’t care when they are campaigning for a leftist agenda to destroy America.

The predictions in 1922 and 1989 were 100% wrong, just like the predictions on the first Earth Day because they were also WAGS. It is scientifically impossible for fossil fuel consumption and rising CO2 to cause both cooling and warming. That is not a hard concept.

2. “We are in an environmental crisis that threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” wrote Washington University biologist Barry Commoner in the Earth Day issue of the scholarly journal Environment.
3. The day after the first Earth Day, the New York Times editorial page warned, “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.”
4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich confidently declared in the April 1970 issue of Mademoiselle. “The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”
5. “Most of the people who are going to die in the greatest cataclysm in the history of man have already been born,” wrote Paul Ehrlich in a 1969 essay titled “Eco-Catastrophe! “By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.”
6. Ehrlich sketched out his most alarmist scenario for the 1970 Earth Day issue of The Progressive, assuring readers that between 1980 and 1989, some 4 billion people, including 65 million Americans, would perish in the “Great Die-Off.”
7. “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” declared Denis Hayes, the chief organizer for Earth Day, in the Spring 1970 issue of The Living Wilderness.
8. Peter Gunter, a North Texas State University professor, wrote in 1970, “Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China, and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.”
9. In January 1970, Life reported, “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”
10. Ecologist Kenneth Watt told Time that, “At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.”
11. Barry Commoner predicted that decaying organic pollutants would use up all of the oxygen in America’s rivers, causing freshwater fish to suffocate.
12. Paul Ehrlich chimed in, predicting in 1970 that “air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.” Ehrlich sketched a scenario in which 200,000 Americans would die in 1973 during “smog disasters” in New York and Los Angeles.
13. Paul Ehrlich warned in the May 1970 issue of Audubon that DDT and other chlorinated hydrocarbons “may have substantially reduced the life expectancy of people born since 1945.” Ehrlich warned that Americans born since 1946…now had a life expectancy of only 49 years, and he predicted that if current patterns continued this expectancy would reach 42 years by 1980 when it might level out. (Note: According to the most recent CDC report, life expectancy in the US is 78.6 years).
14. Ecologist Kenneth Watt declared, “By the year 2000 if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’” (Note: Global production of crude oil last year at 82.275M barrels per day (bpd) was just slightly below the record output in 2018 of 82.9M bpd, and about 50% higher than the global output of 55.7M bpd around the time of the first Earth Day).
15. Harrison Brown, a scientist at the National Academy of Sciences, published a chart in Scientific American that looked at metal reserves and estimated the humanity would totally run out of copper shortly after 2000. Lead, zinc, tin, gold, and silver would be gone before 1990.
16. Sen. Gaylord Nelson wrote in Look that, “Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian Institute, believes that in 25 years, somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.”
17. In 1975, Paul Ehrlich predicted that “since more than nine-tenths of the original tropical rainforests will be removed in most areas within the next 30 years or so, it is expected that half of the organisms in these areas will vanish with it.”
18. Kenneth Watt warned about a pending Ice Age in a speech. “The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years,” he declared. “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”

The Democrats are the party of fear, whether on climate change, COVID, or anything else. They must indoctrinate and scare the people into submission, and they are willing to spread as much misinformation as they must in order to infect the public with their desired policies. They seek to silence anyone who disagrees.
It is sad that we have a President and Vice President who have limited intellectual capacity, and seemingly no curiosity, as they just repeat what they are told, just like most people pretending to be journalists.
People should stop pretending that Democrats are the party of facts and science. That is a bald-faced lie.

I think that climate changes are real, but they are natural. Maybe, people affect it somehow, but I'm not experienced enough in that question. I've started listening to one podcast dedicated to that topic, and I hope that I'll find out more info. What are your thoughts about how climate change is depicted in media, i.e. TV shows, movies, and video games?

Battlefield 2042 comes to mind, as climate change is the reason that the world reached a fucked-up state that over 40 countries have became failed states (including Germany and the European Union, which does not make sense, since the EU is a faction in Battlefield 2142, which takes place after this game.), and Russia and the US are the only Superpowers left in the World, fighting each other, while using No-Pats, people who have lost their country due to either climate change or societal collapse, to do most of the fighting. Granted, the Lore is very patchwork if you take a look at it closely.

Climate change is also hit and miss when it comes to it's depiction on the maps in that game.



Doha, Qatar, somehow became the World's largest sandbox after the oil ran out (although their primary resource is natural gas) while they were trying to fight off desertification. I still am trying to understand what it would take for Doha to actually turn into a dustbowl, like how it is in the game?



Singapore somehow managed to survive, by building a giant ass seawall to protect it from rising waters. But since the World had the 2nd Great Depression at some point, how would they get the resources needed to build it?



Antarctica became home to an illegal Russian oil drilling operation, after ice melted. But how much ice did melt, and how much did the oceans rise in sea level as a result?



South Korea was one of the few countries that actually thrived, when the whole world went to shit in BF2042. However, this city, Songdo, is coast-side, so how did it not get flooded? Or is this a different version of Songdo, relocated, after sea levels rose?



There was a successful farming operation in East Egypt, where a company managed to create a new bread basket, with genetically modified crops, and a high-tech irrigation system? But wouldn't that have been stopped by the whole "natural farming" trend, like how Sri Lanka decided to do by banning fertilizer, to disastrous results?

It's as if the Climate Change aspect of the game, and it's Lore, was also pulled out of it's ass and is a total mess, just like the gameplay itself.

Demographics: Deglobalization Will Fix Climate Change​

“We are on the verge of something fundamentally different right now, yes. But a lot of it looks more like the world before 1945 than the world of the future.” There is good news coming out of the global population collapse.
A little while back, a friend introduced me to the work of developmental economist Peter Zeihan. He identifies as a socially conservative libertarian but seems to be slightly further to the left than that. His science is spot on and he presents it in a way that’s agenda-free. He tells it like it is, is known for his accurate forecasts, and I think we need to listen to him. Here is a recent and very concise presentation of his scholarship.

When he spoke the words quoted above, Zeihan was referring to deglobalization, reconfigured industrialization and labor force, and the structure of the world’s economy. Deglobalization, he contends, is the natural outgrowth of the current planet-wide population contraction.
In about half of the world, the growth rate is above 2.1%. With some exceptions, these countries are largely not significantly industrialized and, unfortunately, many also are far from food sufficient. Of the countries with more than 100 million inhabitants, India (2.20%), Indonesia (2.29%), and The Philippines (2.53%) are barely above replacement rate. Pakistan (3.45%), Ethiopia (4.15%), and Nigeria (5.32%) are currently facing severe food insecurity. Egypt (3.28%) will most likely suffer acutely from the expected decrease in wheat exports from Russia and Ukraine.

The boogeymen of my youth—Erlich’s The Population Bomb and Toffler’s Future Shock—begat the 1992 Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. That document and its spawn (Kyoto, Paris, UN 2020 and MDGs, UN 2030 and SDGs, etc.) are the base upon which the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Green New Deal, and all other attempts at a massive North-to-South wealth transfer were built. As a body of work addressing “the environment,” all of this is now irrelevant.
Worldwide, the population is declining and it will continue to do so more and more precipitously for at least the rest of this century. Consumption, along with the required supporting industrialization, will contract right along with it. The population pyramid has turned into a population diamond.
I’m with Dr. Patrick Moore, a founder and former director of Greenpeace when he says that whatever anthropogenically accelerated climate change we’ve had has been a very good thing. It brought the world back from the near brink of a mass extinction event due to cold. In fact, the world has greened perceptibly since we began pumping carbon into the atmosphere. His most recent presentation digs into the science of this starting around the 12-minute mark.

The carbon currently being produced is being gobbled up by the expanding vegetation. We do not need to build massive pipelines to haul it across the nation to bury it in wells. Funnily enough, though, there is no outcry over carbon pipelines as there was for gas and oil pipelines. They are each as safe and, when buried, as undisruptive as the others.
We do not have to throw more bad money after bad money. (Remember Solyndra?) We do not have to cover square mile after square mile with solar panels and killer windmills that take more carbon to produce and install than they will ever recover in power generation. Did Biden even know what he was saying in Boulder, Colorado, after the fires? No one moves to Boulder to look at man-made monstrosities. They live there to dwell in a cathedral of God’s creation.

Coal, oil, and natural gases are simply the world’s buried compost pile. They’re dead stuff that grew, greened, and thrived in the sunlight when the earth was younger. When we use fossil fuels today to heat our homes, take our kids to soccer practice, and charge our EVs, we are reigniting the sun that shone down hundreds of millions of years ago when humanity was just a gleam in some dinosaur’s eye.
We’re extracting our energy much more safely and cleanly these days and using it much more efficiently than even a decade ago. We’re not going to run out of fuel; in fact, we’ll be using less and less as there are fewer and fewer of us. We’ll need fewer cows too, not because they belch methane, but because there will be fewer of us eating them. Wait, are cows descended from fire-breathing dragons? Let’s explore. Never mind.

The last thing we need is the DOJ’s new Office of Environmental Justice. Anyway, I thought going after polluters was the purview of the EPA. AG Garland says he’s going to start prosecuting for the harm caused by environmental crime, pollution, and climate change. What’s he going to do? Subpoena the sun? I hope he delivers that document in person.
Because it is the sun, whirling like a dervish through its many cycles, and responding to the dance of the gas giants, that is warming the earth by the 0.5 C per hundred years that the IPCC is so afraid of. That specific 2,100 to about 2,600 year-long periodic cycle is called the Hallstatt/Bray cycle. The sun warms the earth by a little less than half a degree centigrade every hundred years for 1,050-1,300 years; then, the earth cools at about the same rate for the next 1,050-1,300 years.
It’s a cycle. It happens naturally. It’s normal. Our just noticing it now doesn’t mean it’s new or that it has anything to do with us. We’ve survived the Hallstatt/Bray cycle before and we’ll survive it again. Right now, we’re about 400 years into the warming phase of the current cycle. Around 2600 it will peak and then the cooling phase of this cycle will get underway.
The Modern Grand Solar Minimum is another of these cycles, with a period of between 350 to 400 years. We’re cooling down in the middle of warming up. Think of it as hitting a pothole during the drive up the hill. Darker, colder days are upon us for a while, getting worse soon, then better.

So, our population has peaked and is not too much for the world to bear. We can’t legislate away global warming or climate change no matter how much money we spend. And our pool of workers from which to extract that money is declining with each generation since the Boomers. We don’t need any part of a Green New Deal. The socialists/communists will have to find some other grand idea behind which to plot their nefarious schemes at collectivization and resource transfer.
We can save our wealth to address real problems, such as how to support a large population of elderly (Boomers then Xers) with a decreasing workforce (Xers, Millennials, Zoomers), and things like that. We do not need to throw it away on the pipedreams of anti-scientific environmental hypocrites who flit around the globe in private planes from think-tank playfield to think-tank playfield.
We can fund the needed mental health care to address the suicidal ideation of Extinction Rebellion and its participants and followers. I’m sure they will be even more deeply depressed when they realize they’ve wasted their lives on the lies of the politicians, academics, and NGOs out for the green, but never for the greening.
The good news is that we can reassure our children that the earth does not have too many people on it, we are not polluting ourselves into oblivion, that they will invent interesting and useful technology to address the issues of their days, and that glorious adventures await them.

It's never an issue I consider on a personal level. I can't do anything. All I know is it's highly profitable for the elites to blame the proles for the destruction of Earth and they take advantage every step of the way. Because the government steals a shit ton of my money to do absolutely nothing about it that makes even remotely practical sense. The solutions are stupid, and the alarmists are always wrong. EVs will fix nothing. Forcing everyone into public transportation will fix nothing, WEF 2030 eat bug live in pod work at home and own nothing shit will not fix anything.

On top of that, the alarmists buy iPhones every single year. They buy Priuses and Teslas, instead of reusing the hundred-year back catalogue of automobiles that are primed and ready for electric conversion, or altfuels like woodgas, hydrogen, biodiesel, etc. They pay $640k cash for waterfront property on Lake Michigan, and only use it for the summer months. They're the ones buying Funko Pop vinyl figures. They book flights all the time. They eat out all the time. They order doordash when they're lazy, and they somehow don't think they're the problem.

I personally live far more spartan than the way they always tell people to live, by default, and enough to still feel good about being a classic car mechanic who dumps his fuckin oil in the front lawn. I've got a cabin in the woods, heated by mostly naturally fallen timber, powered by solar (and gasoline when that's not enough), with a battery bank that usually maintains full capacity when I'm away. I have no grid tie, I collect my water from a lake, and purify it myself. I don't live like that all the time, but I sure as shit could, and it costs me practically nothing but equipment. No champagne socialist or pussyhat liberal will ever live like this. It's not convenient, and it's too much work. They can't live more than 2 blocks away from their favorite Phở place, or they will surely die. I have no idea why you all think Climate Change is fake. It's absolutely real, you would literally have to be purposely naive/delusional to think otherwise and there is pretty much nothing being done about it. IPCC reports are conservative, we've blown past every single fucking IPCC worst case prediction and we're hitting levels of shitstorm that weren't even predicted until 30 years from now. The only real "scams" related to climate change, are more to do with bullshit Net Zero targets that leave action to the last possible minute, bullshit Green Washing where corporations and NGOs just engage in their own money laundering scams under the cover of Climate Change mitigation and dogshit retardation corrupt moneysinks like Carbon Capture and Use. Atmospheric temperature readings are currently bumping along the bottom of the spread for climate models, all of which run wildly hot because of built-in assumptions about what actually drives climate. It's not CO2. If it were CO2, the earth would have turned into a venus-style hothouse hundreds of thousands of years ago, when CO2 levels were far higher than they are today.



This graph is from about 7 years ago, but the UAH and HadCRUT temperature series haven't deviated much from their trends to that point, while the models have continued along the same predictive slope. Temperatures have not risen significantly since that point. The black line is the ensemble mean of the models the IPCC uses to predict the end of the world (as if averaging the mean of a bunch of wrong answers somehow gives you the right answer).

Arctic ice was predicted to have disappeared by two years ago. It's still there. The antarctic has more ice now than at any point in history. The only way they can show "warming" down there is by taking measurements from the northern tip of west antarctica, which is a microclimate almost entirely divorced from the rest of the continent, and then "averaging" that temperature across the entire landmass.

Anthropogenic climate change is a crock. It is a lie. It's entire point is to force you to give up your liberty and hand over control of everything to unelected, unaccountable technocrats and bureaucrats, who believe they have the right to order our lives as they see fit, because they "know best".

I'm glad you mentioned the enormous fucking elephant in the room that is water resources in the American Southwest. Boomers couldn't give two shits about the astronomical amounts of water wasted on golf courses and recreating New England in the fucking deserts of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Their only solution seems to be 'just pump more in'. The aquifer beneath Texas Hill Country is shrinking at a massive rate while bluehairs are moving in droves to the area and just *HAVE* to have their McMansions and lawns on rocky soil not built for it. They'll completely strip the local vegetation from their properties and replace it with shitty water-intensive sod.
