Both Attorneys and the Judge will be torn on Chris. He sits just on the fine line of being high function enough to appreciate the situation, but then not quite. You feel sad for him, but horrified at what he has done. But they have to deal with his prior history as well. So he clearly is or can be a danger to himself and others out in the wild. It sucks for him, and he did deserve better out of life.

Slight Powerlevel, I have a young (well young'ish) Cousin who is in many ways similar to Chris. But his mother and his Grandparents were adamant that he get any and all possible aide. The best programs they could find. Plus extra curricula. He should have been a lot less functional than Chris. His case and diagnosis certainly said so. But his parents and Grandparents gave him the structure he needed. The specialized classes both he and they needed. And it is a world of difference. Yeah my cousin has the standard obsessions. His are Dinosaurs. But he channels his obsessions better He actually has published papers on the subject.

It's really hard to get into his head even in normal circumstances, but I noticed in the arrest video that he sounds pretty calm when shouting to Ralph but his face looks really distressed. It was almost like he was saying "everything's going to be okay" to himself and not necessarily to anyone else. It's too bad his arraignment or whatever wasn't streamed like those courts in Florida, because it's difficult to parse where his mind is at from text alone.

That's why I feel like he will not face any real hard repercussions because say what you want about Chris but he has some mega level luck when it comes to court. I feel like his luck will even help him in this court case. Granted I don't think he will get off scot-free and move back home with his mother like nothing ever happened but I don't think he will be going away to prison for a long time.

Chris has proven time and time again that somehow he is able to get off without any real hard long-term consequences. I know people here will disagree with me but I'm just using his past as a reference.

So you are overstating the extent to which the parents are at fault for how Chris turned out. Insofar as they are at fault, it is due to their genetics, not their rearing.

Your conclusion is wrong though; one can clearly see how Chris was, to some extent, reeled-in by the presence of Bob. This is objectively untrue, while it may not happen as easily or as often as films depict, prison rape does happen, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, around 80,000 women and men a year get sexually abused in American correctional facilities. So no it isnt just a meme or an excuse to say racist things, if you wanna say things against Americans thats fine, just be sure what youre saying is true.

I mentioned in another thread that, while Chris knows its wrong to rape, something that doesnt come up is that if he even considered this rape to begin with. Remember Chris has a very narrow minded definition of things, he doesnt know the difference between manslaughter and murder, he just knows murder is when you kill someone. This would all involve evaluation and hearings. His lawyer bringing up the possibility is the first step in that process.

I think this is unlikely to happen as I believe Chris is capable of understanding the basics of the law and trial process; however, I also would have thought it unlikely a few weeks ago that Chris would have purchased a book on how to fuck his mother so I'm not willing to bet a lot on any outcome. If he starts screaming about being a CPU goddess during open court... who knows.

I doubt he will be institutionalized. He's not schizophrenic, he's just a dumbass with lots of wishful thinking. He actually had a psych eval when he was suspended from PVCC, which is publicly available. The psychologist did not think he was schizophrenic.

Chris is certainly competent to stand trial. Even if he starts screaming about CPU nonsense and the merge, he's still competent. Weird beliefs don't affect competency. Competency is only concerned with capacity, not willingness to participate, or weird belief systems, or the defendants desperate coping mechanisms to deal with their anxiety. It'd be analgous to him claiming he was a sovereign citizen--those guys believe laws don't apply to them. They're still competent to stand trial because they have the capacity to understand, weird worldview aside.

For example, if this does go to trial and Chris says he wants to testify. His lawyer says not to because it's a bad idea. Now Chris understands that bad things can happen if he takes the stand because his lawyer explained it, but he believes that he can use his powers to explain everything and the jury will understand and let him go. He can rant about Sonichu and merges and being a goddess and piercing taints as a pathway to feminine spirituality and he'd still be competent. Because he understands what's going on, he just chooses to ignore the consequences and makes up a fantasy because that's the only way he knows how to deal with adversity.
