This is like when retard lefties who've never left California or New York outside spring break trips to Cancun say that Brazil is a rainbow nation where things are so mixed that racism isn't a problem. But when I asked an older Brazilian acquaintance about what she would say if her daughter married a black guy, her response was, "That would never happen. My daughter would never date a black man." And this is a working class person, not some elite. On the flipside, a friend in college was an elite, rich Brazilian who ended up attending a top school in the US. If you saw him on the street, you'd think he was just another Anglo. And when you see a picture of his social colleagues in Brazil, it looks like a photo of a Swiss polo club.
Point being, race is extremely baked into Latino society and the darker you are, the less respect you receive from the social elite.
