Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

What this should be is a message to us about the folly of being the world's policemen, the tremendous cost incurred to those who love America most, and the realization that trying to impose Democracy via the barrel of a gun isn't something we can do anymore, if ever we really could. What I'm afraid this will be is a warning that we have to do more, spend $300 per person on training, maim more soldiers, and keep them perpetually at risk so we can fulfill increasingly vague and hyperbolic strategic objectives at the expense of the American public. We can hope it won't come to that, but we can more realistically expect that it'll be Iran next time.

Reminds me of a news piece I watched just after 9/11.

An Afghani refugee was interviewed. He stated that he was the US equivalent of a High School math teacher. But now he was fighting with the Taliban. When asked why, he said that Kabul was bombed out. His classroom and those of his colleagues had NOTHING--not even a blackboard! They nigger rigged everything just to get by. Each night he said that he was hungry and slept under an overpass bridge.

But then some men claiming to be Taliban put out their hand. "We'll give you a safe place to sleep. We will feed you--good food. And we will employ you as a teacher for...uh...training..."

So none of this is surprising in the least.

This was in her jurisdicition as each SCOTUS member gets a portion of the country to be quick relegator, she couldn't/wouldn't even do this. I don't really blame Trump, I just see the snakes needing to no longer hide.

And they still won't learn, just look at Iraq, when ISIS rolled up to play with the Iraqi military that we trained and supplied the motherfuckers threw their weapons down and ran away. I feel a little bad for the civilians in all this mess but goddamn do I have to laugh at how we're 0/2 now in nation building with the goat fuckers.

Literally the only time we've successfully "nation built" was in Japan after WW2 but the Japs at least were willing to work with us and mostly abided by what we put in place and have remained pretty friendly with us ever since.

That's fine. They still have the ability to protest the school and get expelled, give up what they believe in and do what they are told and shut the fuck up or Columbine the faculty and students and become immortal. Three whole options! Thank you US Government!!

I think it is worse than being the world's policemen.

We are being the worlds sugar daddy, if we were the worlds policeman we would have just carpet bombed them into oblivion. Instead we sank millions into building infrastructure in a country that isn't ready to maintain it.

South Korea too. Really seems to only work on the Eurasian continent, excluding the ME.

Germany and italy also worked pretty well- maybe not all races are made for civil societies...

I'm sure the Biden administration has plenty of tips and tricks to help the illegitimate Afghan government fortify their election to ensure an outcome that the people would choose.

Just like I'm 100% sure that the Biden administration did not in fact ask Ashraf Ghani to resign; I'm sure they instead told him to stand perfectly still so that the "Afghan people" can "decide."
