The difference between the Trump deadline and the Biden shitshow is that Trump actually had a ceasefire in effect so it wouldn't look like abandonment while half the country is dissolving each week. Trump actually understands optics and marketing. If we were totally out by May and the country fell apart then its only the Afghan's failure to stand tall, the Biden path makes the US look like inept cowards fleeing as the house collapses behind us.

The Taliban ruled Afghanistan in the 1990s while dealing with rebels known as the Northern Alliance.

This time, they got basically no opposition from their own kinsmen. So it will be just how they ruled it in the 1990s, but with better PR and probably making deals with Iran, China, Russia and Pakistan while they rule it.

I am just amazed by the ability of Taliban to absolutely steamroll whatever is left of the official regime. Maybe it could have survived one more year or two with western support, but we've finally arrived at the truth after 20 years. It's a waste of time, resources and human lives, for absolutely nothing. Afghanistan isn't the center of international muslim terrorism. Keeping the puppet regime in place there didn't reduce the number of islamic terror attacks.

I hope this will be a lesson they'll remember for all time. You just can't force a regime change through military violence. You will not win the minds and hearts of muslim tribesmen by bombing the shit out of them with drones. You're just creating very angry muslim tribesmen, and you're putting your allies at risk for that.
