Taliban offensive of 2021 and collapse of Afghan government.

I hope this will be a lesson they'll remember for all time. You just can't force a regime change through military violence. You will not win the minds and hearts of muslim tribesmen by bombing the shit out of them with drones. You're just creating very angry muslim tribesmen, and you're putting your allies at risk for that.
You can. You just need to be willing to be ruthless, something which is not acceptable in these civilised times. And when I say ruthless, I mean willing to kill 50+% of the population to enforce your complete and total will, not just this half-assed method of "winning hearts and minds".

You should read up what the Qing did when the part of the province known as Xinjiang rebelled initially. They liquidated up to 90% of the Dzungar population and basically broke the will of the survivors to even resist. What's left of their lands were then distributed to loyalists. Since then, that part of China has been steadfastly loyal.

I suspect Afghanistan needs something similar if any outsiders want to impose their own will. Fortunately for them, this scenario is very unlikely to happen.

Is it sad that I'm almost positive that nobody in this Administration will have to endure any kind of repercussions for fucking up a withdrawal so badly even a boot could have come up with a better plan?

Biden couldn't even be assed to stay at the White House yesterday, when all of this was going down. Millie was standing up there talking about how White Rage and White Supremacy was the biggest challenge faced by the US military. Every fucking snake in the swamp was telling everyone that everything would be fine.

Now we're getting rolled up like a fucking carpet.

Funny thing, the absolute WORST thing that the Taliban could do is make all the US Embassy personnel board a plane and fly the fuck out in their underwear.

The worst thing they could do for themselves is go apeshit and start beheading people.

If they just stream/Tik Tok the embassy staff walking across the tarmac to the plane, there wouldn't be shit that the Biden administration could do.

And if you think they'll allow the Marines to hold the embassy, I've got a fucking bridge to sell you.

You say that…but, Benghazi happened and Tge defenders were pretty much left on their own.

But honestly, I think the next military action will be reacting to the PLA…if Washington manages to get out of the Cold War and stops looking for ways to try and heat up the Cold Civil War.

I am just amazed by the ability of Taliban to absolutely steamroll whatever is left of the official regime. Maybe it could have survived one more year or two with western support, but we've finally arrived at the truth after 20 years. It's a waste of time, resources and human lives, for absolutely nothing. Afghanistan isn't the center of international muslim terrorism. Keeping the puppet regime in place there didn't reduce the number of islamic terror attacks.

I hope my home country will finally accept this dimple truth, and remove its troops from other regions we've been militarily involved in for ages, with little to no results.
I can't agree more. The world has gotten smaller because of the internet. But we're still different. And that's ok. As long as the Taliban doesn't attack the US or western Europe, why should we care?

They deserve self determination the same way we do.

Makes me wonder what is going on with contractors like Gardaworld, they were aggresively hiring vets about a year ago for 12 month postings in Kabul. I wonder if they were the first to pick up their toys and go home while it was good.

Regardless I wouldn't be surprised if this is a repeat of 1842 where over 15,000 foreigners (primarily british and indian) were slaughtered by the afghans with their own weapons and cannons they surrendered for "safe" passage. Only one person survived.

The thing about that meme.

Is that its half the story and there were a response to that.

The British armed up and went back into Afghanistan to btfo all those goatherders hard and killed anything with prejudice that got into their way.

Pretty much this. There isn't, and never has been, a real central authority in Afghanistan since the Mongols brought Islam and we all know how touchy feely the mongols were.

Afghanistan has been run by tribal warlordism since forever, and what you've been seeing since June is just pantomime stopping. All you see is how much territory a warlord controls. You cannot reform the system, you have to genocide the whole culture. And when I say genocide, I don't mean you need to kill everyone (though that is one way to go about it) you have to completely break down the culture, isolate them, and force them to adopt a new way of life. The Soviets couldn't do it, but if anyone can it's the CCP.

Anyway, the Taliban won't take over the whole country. They will soon flame out as they encounter the other ethnic group (and get further from Paki support). Look at the borders in the 90's with the norther alliance, and that's what you'll see settle out.

No clue. I’m still of the thinking that China will make a move first once they have all the moves to do so and there’s no viable way to counter because it’s too late and the CCP have already won.

I feel like The Taliban is only interested in what’s going on in their own backyard and will only come out to play if interests with others overlap. As for another 9/11….well, the Democrats are trying their damndest to make 1/6….that, but also unless ISIS makes a comeback, I’m not sure if anyone hates the West enough to plan to pull off something like that.
if another 9/11 happens its because the fbi fucked up again. and since theyre focused on internet trolling, theyre definitely going to fuck up and let another 9/11 happen. they apparently knew about the 93 bombing as well.

The Guardian and other places are saying that troops from Britain and the US "should" get there by Sunday/Monday.

And that the Biden Administration has said that the Taliban won't be able to be in Kabul for at least 30 days.

They're less than 30 miles a few hours ago and now there's tons of video of them on the move.

They're going to try to cover this shit up, you watch.

how bad hunter bidden bad or snopes bad!

It’s insane seeing the juxtaposition of the Taliban reenacting the 2003 Thunder Run all over Twitter, and then just the mundane shit people in Kabul are up to on Snapchat. Stuff like chilling at hookah bars and whatnot.
Its weird to see things change so fast in 20 years that some folks see Taliban better than the retarded ruling class in charge of the west lol.

USAF has the perfect opportunity to create Highway of Death 2.0 and buy Kabul time, but that would probably require waking the alleged Commander in Chief up from his nap.
Yeah, it's shocking that America under Bush Snr. took Iraq out of Kuwait quickly but was bogged down in 20 years of war in the same regions, it's fucking sad and embarrassing. (edit: I realized I implied Afghanistan and Iraq were the same place so I made a small correction)

That just shows that the current leadership is fucking incompetent.

Drone strikes and a single A-10 pass should set this shit back, but of course, it isn't going to happen.

How long till they blame it on Trump?

Colin Powell opposed Bush getting further involved iirc.
