I am getting dead space vibes. If a anyone played the first game and watched the media around it. Basically people are trying to escape the space zombie outbreak and they overload the space shuttles. Which cause them to crash and lead to everyone being stranded and massacred in the end.

Even if Trump waited until his agreed date of May 1st to start leaving we still would've been out of there months ago.

Joe Biden pushed the date back to 9/11 out of hubris because he wanted a photo op.

it's a moot point because after may 1st everyone of note would have been gone, and then no one would give a shit about another middle-eastern shithole and how fast the taliban would've taken over. the situation where trump had to ponder how to respond would've never coming in the first place.

I don't really think you could have ever set up a sharmartcracy there like what we have in the west. In the modern west, the "elected" ruling class has nothing to really fear from its general population, and everything to gain by holding on to control by any means necessary. That's obviously not the case in Afghanistan.
