Taliban offensive of 2021 and collapse of Afghan government.

So once the US falls are America's oligarchs going to just move to China?
Would be hilarious if they tried. They'll find out they're just second class citizens at best even as they cozy up with the elites there. Or even at the risk of having their wealth taken away like they do to the other Chinese billionaires for trumped up crimes. I'd imagine they'd be seething upon this realization.

Russia sent ISIS sent straight back to hell when Obama and the western leaders were sitting around looking like limp dicks. The downfall of ISIS coincides with the day the Russians intervened in Syria. Assad made a smart move to invite Putin.
I also couldn't help but notice the chad Russians didn't even bother evacuating their embassy and are already setting up normal relations with the Taliban and laughing at the humiliating failure of Biden's evacuation.
just an absolute flex at the end of the article
Russia's embassy in Britain has said Washington's Afghan exit shows its geopolitical star is on the wane.

"The objective reality is that Washington’s comfortable position of U.S. hegemony is receding into the past against the backdrop of the strengthening political positions of Russia and China,” the embassy said on Twitter on Sunday.

Zamir Kabulov, President Vladimir Putin's special representative on Afghanistan, said on Monday that Moscow's long campaign to build ties with the Taliban appeared now to be paying off.

"It's not for nothing that we've been establishing contacts with the Taliban movement for the last seven years," Kabulov told Ekho Moskvy.

"We saw that this force would in the end if not completely come to power would play a leading role in the future of Afghanistan in any case."
So while Russia was planning for the inevitable future, our woke generals were still living with the delusion that taxpayer funded gender studies programs would create a socially progressive and dynamic country in fucking Afghanistan.

Of course. The United States now has no consequence to the failure of its leaders. Every one of the generals behind the Afghan defeat will move on to cushy jobs as pundits, politicians, and lobbyists. It used to be you’d commit suicide for such shame, but now it’s nothing. Failure is meaningless.

Assuming Japan re-militarizes, what anime girl do you think they paint on their first aircraft carrier?
Could reference Gundam.
Could reference Evangeleon.
Could reference Thunderbirds.

The possibilities are endless.

You have the press and the American people bitching about Russia and treating them like enemies and they have not affect my life or the lives of others in America.
Russia by being a minor threat is easier to focus on than the 1 billion pound Panda in the room, especially as the Panda is slipping you a few million here and there.

I'm much more bearish on China than most. I think they are blowing their load too early, trying to project super power status, being a massive asshole while doing it, and alienating most countries from their orbit; all the while having too many domestic ticking time bombs they aren't addressing. They are assembling a league of some real shit bag countries for support though, like Burma and the newly minted Islamic Emirate.

the military is literally on suicide watch
lmao
Yeah, kind of.

It's actually a little more complicated than that, though.

The VA thinks that veterans are on suicide watch, and are sending little reminders to remind you not to 41% urself, plz. Which, if you know anything about the VA healthcare system, is about par for course.

The VA's got a huge fucking backload right now - not because of Afghanistan (the invasion is so old now that you could have been there Day One, come home, had kids, and had your kids grow up to go there too), but because of Covid lockdowns (making everyone crazy), federal regulations (making services much harder to access), and the fact that it took them until the Apocalypse to actually move ahead on setting up Telehealth services, despite the fact that in some areas, elderly, disabled, pain-wracked vets need to commute for hours just to get to the nearest hospital.

Also, the VA likes to treat grown adults like children, because VA staff are blockheads. Not all of them, mind you. Just the ones who get paid to write memos and set policies.

VA mental health services are in shambles, plus VA SOP is to be as awkwardly condescending and out-of-touch as possible, means you get memos like this. As I mentioned in a previous reply, it's not even the stupidest thing they've sent to vets.

But, you know. At least they're trying.

yeah this seems to be more the mix of "lol everything your comrades died for and you're crippled for melted in a weekend" and the general Malaise afoot than just "everything you died for was shit"
basic "it was all for nothing" was already on the table for ages
Had a sergeant in AIT who was fresh from Afghanistan. Very first thing he taught us - and bear in mind, I wasn't some fucking highspeed combat soldier, and this was in no way part of our "official courseload" - was how to believably plant firearms on dead people to make them look like they were Taliban.

He just figured it was useful information.

I dunno if non-vets are under the impression that the US military is all Eisenhower buttons and tearing up at the thought of making brown people into Democrats, but the military's staffed by average Americans - i.e. cynical shitheads, just like the rest of you, only difference being is that they exercise more and get to blow things up.

(that's not to say NOBODY ever gets into the "everything your battles died for was shit" funk. It does happen from time to time. But even amongst vets with serious mental health issues, that's not as big an issue as you might think - and even when it is, it's usually co-occurring with about a dozen other things)

A friend of mine just got this in his inbox.

Hi,
Sorry about your PTSD and your friends who died for Israel and wealthy defense contractors. That must super suck. If you're angry or starting to question the motivation and worth of the US ruling class, that's a very natural reaction, but here's a tip: try not thinking that way. That might help.
Sincerely, your friend, the government

Actually, failing is the real winning. Ask Simone Biles!

There was this video floating around of Afghan soldiers that couldn't even do jumping jacks. Is that true?
Yeah this is ancient video but the Afghans just cannot do basic stuff like that, there was never a hope of making a national army because so much of Afghanistan is rural and undeveloped, Afghan troops make excellent raiders and scouts but absolutely piss poor line troops. For every 100 that pass through boot camp, 5 will be capable and willing of training to the point they're equal to western troops. If you read Lawrence of Arabia's book Seven Pillars of Wisdom he goes into detail about the Arabic ones under his command, he catches some sort of camp fever and is laid up for days, maybe a week or two inside his tent, during the time he realizes that he can NEVER train these people, their minds just outright cannot handle Western style discipline and command structures, but they're excellent raiders and highwaymen so the best use of them was to do insurgent activity, trying to take on the Turks who COULD handle Westernized style military tactics in frontal combat was useless and Arabia, Levant and Palestine were huge places and an army very small within it. So he opted to just stay away from the main Turkish army and harass supply lines and blow up rail lines along with other skirmish activities.
So here comes the Taliban, doing what they do best, raiding and skirmishing against people stuck doing garrison duty which requires disciplined minds. Its no wonder that they folded up like laundry. Now the Taliban has the problem of being the defender and pulling garrison duty if various Warlords arise.

People have snuck into areas doing this before. The trick is to get onto the tires before they are pulled into the aircraft. Then you have to either have a small tank with you or take deep breaths while not sleeping for the entire trip. Literally a case of you sleep, you die. For 20 freezing hours.

Can I take my phone with me so I can keep myself from sleeping with meme browsing ?

I doubt also that China is going to take over the world like some are saying, but it seems like everybody is just going to collapse together because elites are just too greedy and power hungry.

Now the Taliban has the problem of being the defender and pulling garrison duty if various Warlords arise.
Is this why the region will never be stable, because raiding for them is easier than defending?
Not doing it would be a disaster. Doing it would also be a disaster. Nice.
