Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I'd wager it is because the war hawks know America isn't in the mood for their shit. On top of that, at least in Texas, there has been a lot of major Wins for the republicans. I don't think anything really needs to be said when the party of "hate" is being vindicated.

You don't understand. It is common code words in any political (and business) leadership challenge.
When there is a leadership crisis, when an underling pretends to show solidarity with the besieged leader,
the words "I have full confidence ..." is code-speak and is used to signal to everyone else "yeah, his reign is over, only formalities remain now, but I don;t want to be seen as holding the knife. However, I am with you guys and I am ready to take over".

It is not binding herself to biden, it is a diplomatic way of telling everyone "he is toast, I am ready and willing"
We have political leadership challenges in our parties here in Oz all the time. Anytime you hear these words you know, ok the prime minister will be replaced within 48 hours :-)

And in normal situations, it's what I'd expect. A quiet, clear signal of no confidence dressed up in a smiling mask. The problem is twofold, one that Biden is not a legitimate president and anyone who hooked their wagon to him basically made a death pact, and two that a normal situation this isn't.

This is.... a strong contender for the worst fuckup by a president ever. Its -pure poison- politically. And it's just the biggest pile of shit on top of a series of other big piles of shit, with additional piles of shit in the foreseeable future. Just being tertiarily connected to the admin hurts you, and renders those smiling masks poison themselves.

Kamala is the least popular VP since the 70s. Literally only Spiro Agnew was less popular, because he was getting his ass impeached in the biggest scandal in modern American history at the time. She would also become the 2024 front runner by default, and would arguably lose the election much easier than if Biden was in, "fortification" nonwithstanding.

If I was in charge of Taiwan, I'd get my people building nukes. Same for Japan and South Korea. They have the capability to build them quickly. Japan has a space program, so there's a source of missiles. Am sure ROK/Taiwan could do the same.
