Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
The new Stantler looks great! I just hope you can catch more and it’s not a ‘this is your special buddy’ so you only get one in the game.
the new foo dog growlithe is adorable too.
It looks like the plot for Legends is kinda ripping off Monster Hunter Stories though lol. ‘Oh noes something is making the monsters/Pokémon go crazy! You gotta save the world!’ (Seriously though go try Monster Hunter Stories, the demo is free and it’s genuinely a fantastic monster battling game. The demo doesn’t really let you get into the meat and bones of monster combining but it’s a fun game. Capcom even has a roadmap of free DLC for the game which is refreshing.)

The overworld for D/P are off putting and if they nerf the dex again I’ll probably end up skipping it all together. I am glad to see Pokémon following you is back though, I never understood why that wasn’t kept as a feature in every game after HG/SS

I'm curious if they plan to possibly patch support for the Pokemon into SwSh simply because they specifically called out that Ranked and VGC battling will remain in SwSh and will not be present as features in the remakes or Arceus. We don't even know if Arceus will support any level of multiplayer at all.

BDSP is made by the same people as Home but support will not be available at launch, which seems odd. They may be prepping a patch for SwSh to support the Pokemon before implementing Home support.
Unless they continue the Arceus game as a series, I don't see them leaving the Hisuian forms forever trapped on an island personally. I know I'm being :optimistic:, but every game up to SwSh supported every previous Pokemon, so I don't see why they wouldn't eventually make a Gen 8 game that supports them all as well. GF is lazy sure, but it would make no sense for them to not continue the trend of support for every Mon, especially since they aren't even the ones doing the work on these new Models, with the exception of the new forms.

Edit:
I'm guessing Hisuian Arcanine will probably look like a Chinese Lion based on Growlithe's aesthetic.

For me it's a very simple matter of whether all base mechanics are in place (None of that Let's Go BS) = and whether the Pokedex is complete.
If either of those conditions isn't fulfilled I'm skipping this one as well.

I just want to play through it once and then use my boxes of murdermon that I bred and collected over decades to decimate clueless children with poorly trained full legendary teams in online play so I can feel smart and special.

i really wish they’d stop making these games because every time they announce a new one the entire internet shits itself and i can’t get away from it. between disney and gamefreaks I’ve been getting it in every hole from giant media for like twelve years without a rest so it would be great if 70% of the global population found different things to like

Well I'm sold. I mean, I was sold before, but this is all I want from a Pokemon game. I guess Pokeball customization is neat, but that was already in gen 4. Legends stuff is neat too.
Agreed, now my autistic needs for a customizable character are met.

BDSP:
  • Still don't care for the chibi over-world sprites (which is why the transition to the battle scene with full-bodied models is so jarring), but I've always adored having Pokémon following behind you. I'm glad it looks like they're going to continue with it for the foreseeable future.
  • Fuck yeah, stickers on PokéBalls again! That was just a small touch that's always tickled me, and I really miss that.
  • Yeah, there's customization, but would that include hair-dyes, or no?
  • Oh thank God the Underground is back. I missed out on that, so I can't wait to actually experience it fully.

Legends:
  • Music is probably going to be majestic, hopefully good enough to be a constant replay.
  • Think I'm gonna be going with Rowlet as my starter. Maybe if we're lucky, they'll have Hisuian forms when they evolve.
  • I still don't think we really needed a prequel game at all, but I legit hope they explain the Sinjoh Ruins at the very least. The fact Johto and Sinnoh are somehow connected has always fascinated me, and Meiji-period Sinnoh just gives me Ecruteak vibes something fierce, especially with Wyrdeer, like holy shit he's a good boy. Fluffy Growlithe is a gooder boy.
  • So you can literally sneak up on Pokémon and catch them that way without getting into a battle? Nice. But the boss Pokémon where you're literally dodging getting fucking maimed by them? Dude, I'm game for that.

Overall, not bad now that we had all this time to just sit on the original announcements and wait for further information. Think I'll kill time better with these than with Shield tbh.

Looks like I was proven wrong about BDSP. It still doesn't look as good as it can be for a game made by a multi-million dollar company (especially after the SwSh complaints), but at least it looks more livelier than gen 8.

I'm loving the fact that they're bringing back some of the older mechanics (Pokeball stickers and following Pokemon). Hopefully they get rid of the hand-holdiness that plagued SwSh, I think they should optimally strive to bring back some of the more popular elements of Black/White, given that generation was one of their more better-received games.

Imagine if Hisuian!Growlithe and Arcanine are part Rock-type, and get the ability Rock Head.

Now imagine if they both have access to the move Head Smash.

Oh boy.

I was never really into the 4th Gen all that much(though getting Stickers and the Underground back is cool), but I’m really interested in Legends. Between the new evolutions/region variants and the new combat, seems like a lot of fun.

That's the thing that got me the most - these games look like they could potentially be fun. It's something I never got from SWSH's preview footage.

Something that will absolutely help decide if I'm going to get them is just how much hand-holding they're gonna put in them. BDSP from what I can tell looks like it's going to be more faithful to the OG games which hopefully means less railroading. Legends on the other hand is being made by Game Freak and that worries me even if the world is going to be more open. I'll also be super pissed if they shiny lock the starters again.

Slightly off topic but this just gave me a flashback to that one guy who reset his game at least 1000 times to get a shiny Treecko.
>1000 SRs.

Oh you sweet summer child you have no idea how much time we autism-powered shiny hunters are willing to waste to start a game with a palette-swapped pokemon that has a sparkly jingle every time it's sent out into battle. I think the most I spent looking for a shiny in a hunt I kept tally on reached 32,000 random encounters.

Flare Blitz and Head Smash with Rock Head? Yes please.

The way they described it as "fragile and only used at the perfect moment" makes me think they might have a gimmicky ability in the same vein as Minior or Eiscue.

I can't believe cute growlithe is fuckin extinct!
If gen 1 taunt us anything, as long as one of the growlithes pulled a fry's dog and got fossilized (sad music optional, crying also optional.), it should be possible to resurrect them like any of the fossil pokemon.

Now this makes me wonder, what other old pokemon have gone extinct, and we haven't known about. My hopes is get a ghost type eevee with the excuse of it being a regional extinct pokemon.

I know it isn't set far enough in the past but I still kinda want them to show us what pre-fossilized shieldon, bastiodon, cranidos and rampardos looked like. They probably won't, but I don't think they're going to be setting too many pokemon games in the distant past so now's the time.
