I think they are obsessed with the "useless lesbian" meme, which is the idea that a lesbian might not realize she's being flirted with and how she assumes every girl is straight or something like that. (Obviously this doesn't stop real lesbians from finding dates if they want to.) Maybe it's not that prevalent anymore, but transbians loved to be like "O M G I am such a useless lesbian uwu".
I think it's because it's a crossover with the nerd who doesn't know he's been flirted with meme. I know lots of lesbians, they are pretty adept at dating, these dudes are just trying to reframe their unfuckability and awkwardness as homosexuality rather than them being useless, undatable creeps with poor social skills.

middle any-aged trooner’s. They make up & have joined various fandoms & brought along that stupid “useless lesbian/ nerd” thing, as an
identity. They project this identity on to various characters or IP’s they enjoy
( uWu comfort character, kin, stan, simp) & lay false claims of their precious “
head canons” which they continuously plaster all over their social media.
One favorite is the lie, “
blank character is trans, I don’t make the rules, it’s canon,” when it is not canon, nor here, nor even there. Recent example; I watched
Avatar: The Last Airbender, (yes, it took me at least 15+ years after it came out to watch,) & before I started, I’d seen some odd posting’s about it’s characters pop-up. One claim that a main character is a brave “
trans women” it’s “
canon” etc etc, & as I’m not a fandom-er, (& simply enjoy various media, as a normal fan, like most people,) had no fucking clue what I was getting myself into. So I asked my friend who rec’d ATLA to me, “
hey, is Azula a troon?” & friend said, “
God no! She’s one of the main, female characters. You know how we chatted about how creepy fandumb’s are? It’s probably just some weirdo projecting.”
There is a shit-tonne of this, for just about
any IP you could name. Other
atrocities fav’s include, “
gay panic! (idiots using this tend to have no clue about the history of the ‘gay panic defense’ re murder of gay men,) queer coded, projecting pronouns,” et cetera. It’s a pet peeve of mine. Certain fandoms are
particularly infested with this crap. It’s not surprising that it’s made it’s way on to dating apps.
