We would not be pulling out. Trump ensured that Biden had to, lest he just explode a massive chunk of Capital from year one. The Democrats tried to turn this into a good thing for them by making the date to leave a large, momentous one. And it backfired harder than anything I have ever seen before.

Because normally the dem leadership pays lip service to their wants. It's a two-way street to maintain that delusion. The believer says what he wants, the politician says he'll do it, but that the evil mean Republicans will try to stop him, the believer then votes for the politician, the politician comes in and pays lip service again, doing some token but doomed to fail effort, blames the Republicans for it failing, cue the cycle repeating.
