I was going to argue against you, but in holding my mail-in vote, I pressed the envelope with my thumbs and exposed it to a light source (I used natural sunlight and I could definitely see it like a watermark. The countermeasure that I found to cursory scans is to load the ballot upside down so that that the logo covers it up mostly. I'll add more, but the phone camera I used is not detailed enough to give definitive proof.

It's California, of course they do. They've pretty much had the state on lock since Bush Part 1. But I do know something somewhat interesting. According to someone I know who's been in San Diego for a bit, San Fran is the only city that is super autistic about the masking and lockdowns. Outside of Frisco, people are more or less doing what they want. This is secondhand, so take it with a grain of salt, but because of that Newsome has an easier time holding his seat, at least as far as smug lockdown bullshit goes.

Not the DNC, state Dems, it's a state election that could potentially throw wrenches into things for 2022 so there's not really anything for them to fight over that could screw with any concerted rigging. I'd argue that the Cali Dems would be best throwing Newsom to the wolves (like New York did with Cuomo), but fear, pride, and nepotism are a lethal combination.
