They will, there is a limit on rationalization. Right now, basically every democrat voter (Even the infamous Kiwi one) agrees the hair sniffing is awkward and weird, but rationalize it away as "He's from another time and is very tactile". It's paper-thin, but juuuuust enough to work so long as he doesn't do anything worse.

Usually, that point comes when the thin excuses finally break down. And mind, these excuses don't have to be robust, just surface level. Most people won't really -think- about the excuse, they'll only see the excuse and it works to smooth over the cognitive dissonance.

For every screeching Twitterati who refuses to believe anything that is even remotely critical of the narrative (even when that narrative changes constantly and so visibly that they are literally the only ones who buy it), there's a hundred well-meaning people in the Dems that have the scales fall from their eyes. This shit takes time, and it takes a while for the ones that are more integrated with the system to come to terms with.
You don't have a week like the one the Bidens just had without tons of fallout, and while you will basically never win over the more intractable ones, it doesn't fucking matter. Focus on everyone else, the ones that do, and you'll be watching more and more support bleed away from them in a time when the Administration is bleeding political capital in a time when they already had none.
Back in July, a friend of mine who had blocked me pretty much everywhere for not condemning the Cheetofuhrer called me back to apologize, and we actually had a productive conversation for the first time in.... What, three years? Four and change? Give it time, and savor it as the Biden admin's complete incapacity to not fuck up runs its course.
