I didn't get to watch his press conference today, but I listened to it on the radio and at least on the radio, he sounded like he was reading a book, it came off as fake. He also sounded like his batteries needed to be replaced.

It did come off as canned. He also seems to really have trouble with people's names and slurring his words.

1- This is still early on Biden's presidency, and news cycles are moving faster than ever, Biden's strategy of hide and shut up gave him the presidency in the first place, and so far, I think it will work again on his behalf, unless something drastic changes.

Little late, but disagree with this point in particular. Yes Biden hid during the election and it worked out for him (in the sense he's now President), but that doesn't mean the strategy worked in his favour. Biden was able to get away with it because he was competing against an equal: Trump was President, Trump was his opponent, and Trump could be blamed for any and all failings associated with the office.

The problem now is that Biden wholly owns the Presidency. There's no hiding, no obfuscating, everything that happens on this stage now is Biden's responsibility alone. It's partly why they keep trotting him out every other day or so, because Biden himself needs to answer for those things he has full control over, and also why it cannot be buried so easily - because Biden is the one nominally making the calls.

Part of the reason this debacle hurts Biden and the Dems so much is it's a disaster entirely of their own making. All they had to do was adhere to the deal Trump secured before leaving office, but they thought they could do better and get a chunk of political capital for it. Now they're stuck with a looming humanitarian disaster, a media who senses a prime opportunity to rebuild their collapsing ratings, and a populace who is eager to see a scapegoat or six paraded down the street on pikes.

There's no ignoring this and hoping it goes away, Someone needs to be sacrificed to placate the masses, and Biden through his comments has effectively ensured only his head will do the trick.

Whenever people talk about how the government shelters will take care of people, I always remember what happened to me back when I was a brain dead hammerhead.

I was sheltering in place due to a hurricane. Me and two other guys robbed the shoppette and the vending machines because of reasons. We grabbed snack foods, diapers, formula, bottled water, shit like that.

Fucking AAFES tried to fucking charge me for the damage of the storm and the fact we robbed shit and someone wanted my CO to field grade me.
