Jocktober didn't work as a segment almost ever, it was more about having a target for the pests to attack every year with updates while the trolling was going on. it was almost always formulaic and dogshit.WATP is a perfect example of why Jocktober wouldn't have worked as a year long segment. Only much worse, because the only host is about as funny as Opie and most of the guests are about as charismatic as Joe DeRosa.
Edit: Do you have a link to that new Cumia documentary?
Redbar is actually enjoyable and the 40000 hours of content means you're going to enjoy it the odds are in your favor.
i despise true crime, but mostly because of the womanly take on it; early LPOTL was the best take i've seen, and thats because they were all so poor and depressed they usually sided with the psychos.
plus true crime is like the paranormal theres only a handful of good stories, so your show is going to run out of steam very quickly. even "the best" ones have been doing shittier stories and relying on momentum because there just aren't that many interesting stories about "true crime". maybe 1000 tops. the only other way to do it is how Pat Dixon (Cumia's longest current friend) does it, exclusively focusing on crime in one city but riffing on the local journalists reporting and joking about everything from rapes, to baby deaths, to animal overpopulation. you won't hear much about the Son of Sam, but jesus christ will you know everything about animal control and the pest extermination industry. (the bloomberg years were fucking virtually crime free)
