Worse, I'd say. That "Mission Accomplished" banner was actually about some specific mission that the crew of that vessel had, well, accomplished. It was media spin that presented it as pretending the war had been a complete victory. Don't get me wrong, Iraq was a huge mistake morally and for the American and Iraqi people, but that picture was a media stitch-up. Biden's jokes? Really poor taste.

Actually, this is seriously bothering me. Imagine you're one of the grieving friends or family. You watch him do his serious, 'I feel your Pain' segment. Then literally five minutes later he's smiling and making jokes with the press. That's the real "Mission Accomplished" part of it: 'I've been serious and talked about Beau - mission accomplished, now back to normal.'

I kinda hate to break it to you, but unless someone or something with a lot of institutional power behind them comes out swinging, nothing's going to happen. The Italian mob was notoriously successful in the middle part of the 20th Century because whenever someone would look into mob shit they'd play the race card and say they're whipping up anti-Italian sentiment based on lies and stereotypes (sound familiar?). It wasn't until Giuliani and some other big names came out swinging against the mob and calling it out that it finally got broken of its institutional power.
