It’s a known statistical fact that the majority of gun-involved self defense situations end before even a single shot is fired, and in those cases most people don’t even see the inside of a courtroom, and those that do are able to get off easily because nobody actually got hurt. It’s former or active cops and the like that insist you either pretend you aren’t armed or you kill somebody with no in between because they want you as terrified and trigger happy as they are so it’s easier for them to be considered reasonable when they kill somebody who explicitly was not a threat.
