Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Honestly ISIS has blown their load. The huge crowds aren’t there anymore and the US is about to pullout. Should have put everything - and I do mean everything - on the first attack.
They'll still have plenty of work cut out for them. As far as ISIS is concerned, killing Taliban is a higher religious priority than killing Americans; Americans are just apostates but the Taliban are outright traitors.

Pro Taliban source/Pro Islamic State source. they obviously have a motive in making the US appearing even weaker but if something like this has happened.. people are calling fake and it makes sense that this would be spread to help embolden the Islamic folks.

hrmmm cant totally agree. Glenn greenwald/Jimmy Dore have been doing spots on Tucker Carlson which is a brand new thing. They arent being thrashed either. They are there to decry the Democrats but that is a major fraction away from the party and not business as usual. Maher is getting fed up in a subtle way and forcing moderate dems to look at their positions. 'Stop making me Tucker Carlson' is a literal joke he said because Carlson is starting to seem like a Centrist styled news host while blasting the Biden admin and woke BS left and right. Naomi Wolfe another hardcore feminist has been removed from twitter for daring to commit wrong think. She was a democrat advisor during the 90s and is credited with beginning third wave feminism...appears on Tucker Carlson now.

You can even look at someone like Quentin Tarantino whos pushed back slightly with 'They don't care about the art they care about messaging' on Maher's show. None of this is good for the ideologues running the DNC as it just chips away at their base. 'Vote blue no matter who' won't cut it after even another year of the Democrats having the House, Executive, and a tie breaking Senate. I don't think I'm being overly optimistic because right now people are saying from the Democrat side they'd vote differently if the election were held today. Now another year of communist style'd shenanigans with ZERO moderate Dem representation...
I respectfully disagree.

Tucker and Jimmy Dore have a thing in common: they are populists of different ideological wings, right and left respectively. While implementation and desired goals and priorities are different, they both have a love of this country and want to see its people thrive. They are reconciling and trying put differences aside to ultimately kick partisanship. I have respect for Dore, especially since he came from the TYT craphouse and moved on for being "logical."

Maher has never once tried to reconcile. He usually gets a pet Republican or neocon grifter (Ben Shapiro or Mann Coulter), makes fun of them for their points and so on. It isn't to find common ground. It's to reinforce their worldview. Even in the most counter-example to this, his interview with Steve Bannon, he did this. Not once did Maher criticize Democrat leadership in that clip or say to withhold your vote, he just singled out the vocal woke Twatter mobs. He even brought up the corpse of John Boehner's career for a "lol, remember this loser" moment. The reason why is he shares the exact same politcal mindset as Pelosi and Schumer and Biden: give the wokists asspats and nothing else and they'll be placated, and never endorse their mentality in practice, only appearance.

Jimmy Dore on the other hand rips Pelosi and Schumer and even Sanders a new asshole nearly every show for being sellouts. The guy has principles, even if I don't agree with him on them.

The differences are obvious. Maher is just a tard wrangler for people about to jump ship to the independents column.

In 1965 the minimum wage was $1.25 per hour. back then the USA was still on a gold/silver standard and you could redeem your paper money in silver/gold at the federal reserve.
5 Silver Quarters is about 1 ounce of silver. silver trades at 24 dollars per ounce today. so 1.25 per hour in 64 is like 24 per hour today.

What immediate benefits/changes would occur if we went back to the gold/silver standard?

Not particularly related to the subject at hand, but just something I want to get off my chest.

This whole Afghanistan thing has been a fun show to watch but I'm so jaded with politics anymore it feels like I'm watching a sloppily scripted TV show as opposed to real events if that makes sense. Not to say that the Taliban aren't kicking ass or that the bombs aren't real. I'm sure they are, but the actual cascade of fuckups is probably not organic, nor is the media's response (they would never turn on the democrats unless instructed to).

It's sort of like how polls aren't real anymore, they sort of just say what the establishment wants them to say so that whatever happens looks like it has majority approval. So when you see polls taking for Biden, it's not due to people's actual opinion turning. Maybe people's opinion is turning or maybe not, but that's not relevant to the polls.

It makes sense when you understand that the whole thing is helmed by a group of incompetents who hate their own citizens.

15/hour is what Officers make in the military. It has far more reaching complications than just that.

It's also about what GS-4's make in the Federal Government. ($13.03/hr (not including locality pay)) This is something that's going to have immediate implications, because evidently we're going to see a $15 minimum wage for Federal contractors in January of 2022. From my own experience, there's a world of difference between, say, a GS-3 and a GS-5 in terms of duties and responsibilities. Suddenly, you're not talking about making $11.60 to do low-intensity work, as compared to $14.57. I think that there's going to be a bit of a shock from anybody over GS-5 seeing people under them with a fraction of the responsibilities and duties that they have getting a... 15% hourly raise in the case of a GS-4 and a 59% hourly raise as GS-1 ($9.36/hr), while they get bupkis.

There is a bit of room for leeway here, admittedly. I'm assuming that they're all step one, and omitting locality pay. (For those here who don't know what I'm talking about (and bless you, this shit is weird), you can get more information about steps and locality pay on this website. Steps basically are promotions within your position, grades are different levels of position responsibility (eg, in the IRS, GS-3 sorts forms, GS-5 handle and process them, GS-7 provide more technical analysis, etc.), and locality pay is predicated upon your location to adjust for local cost of living. For example, the locality pay in Utah would be 16% more, whereas Connecticut would be 32% more. So that $14.57 for GS-5 would be $16.90 in Utah and $19.23 in Connecticut. In that case, taking locality pay into account, a GS-1 in Utah would still see a $4.14 hourly increase from $10.86 (a 38% wage increase or $2.64 in Connecticut from $12.36, a 21% wage increase), so we're looking at a relatively large pay raise for GS-1 work, and the potential of seeing little to no increase even at GS-4.

But there is good news for Federal contractors, as every Federal employee can expect to earn an average of 2.7% more as of January 1. I'm not sure if having wages barely keep up with inflation is going to help Federal contractor retention or morale, especially with such large pay increases for those doing less than many of them are, but who knows? I've spent way too long typing this all out, and I'm not sure how attractive doing a lot less work for about the same pay is, but I'm sure things will work out somehow.

What immediate benefits/changes would occur if we went back to the gold/silver standard?
I won't pretend to know economics enough to point out any specific benefits, but one immediate change would be the absolute implosion of the current US Government. The system is incredibly dependent on generating trillions of dollars outta thin air to fund the ridiculous budgets and programs that go around to line political pockets. Forcing the US to actually engage in the tax half of tax and spend would be a collapse of incredible proportions.

C'mon man, you're supposed to sweep it up for me!

It's been quite the experience for my blue dem friends.
Hats are being eaten about how it's not so easy to be in Drumph's shoes to take the heat from the press. And this isn't even half of the fodder and vitriol the MSM threw at the orange tard.
