Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

the main benefit to my mind is that it would immediately constrain governmental spending. if the government cant print money they cant pass trillion dollar stimulus bills or 3.5 trillion dollar infrastructure bills. BUT a return to a gold standard can lead to inflation. If the price of gold to a dollar is pegged to high, prices of goods will rise to meet that peg. conversly if it is pegged to low (IIRC the price of gold per oz was like 32 dollars by federal law) it leads to deflation as people would hoard the gold at what would be a stellar price. Im not a economist, its just interesting to think about. I just stack silver and gold as a hedge and cause shiny.

'Vote blue no matter who' won't cut it after even another year of the Democrats having the House, Executive, and a tie breaking Senate. I don't think I'm being overly optimistic because right now people are saying from the Democrat side they'd vote differently if the election were held today. Now another year of communist style'd shenanigans with ZERO moderate Dem representation...

Can you imagine how the White House press corps would be acting if Trump were president during this debacle? They'd be frothing at the mouth, screaming and gnashing their teeth, veins bursting in their eyes. I bet Jim Acosta would have tried to strangle Trump at a press conference by now.
