May Leitz (NyxFears) was much more openly angry, moaning about capitalism, Gamergate, the "big push against women's rights" that happened around the same time(?), and growing up in the Deep South (which he occasionally plays off with a forced laugh). But he does say the world is changing for the better.
Jessie Earl's coming-out story was not particularly memorable, but it was described a lot more optimistically and less confrontationally than the other two. I've got nothing really to mock here.
And then Jay Exci was like:
Oh and I came out too, I guess.
Coming out must have meant at least
something to him, but he says he's always been an open book. And he was only really nervous about doing it because wasn't sure if he was trans or just confused, and it would have been difficult to take back once the thing was out in the open.
Jay was just extremely chill about the whole thing (almost unnervingly so), and said that most of negative comments on Youtube he doesn't consider transphobic. (He also said he gets more transphobia on Twitter. I wonder if this was referring to the Stonetoss incident?)
On being accidentally misgendered, Jay even had this to say:
JE: And you know, I don't blame anyone for looking at me, a pre-transition person, and assuming 'man'. I don't think we're at a place culturally where we can call that unreasonable. I think that's how people are raised and I don't really... I don't really want to get into that discussion I guess.
And at one point, he called out
this particular Tumblr post (
archive), as possible concern trolling. The post suggested that he might have been groomed into it, naming Patricia Taxxon as a potential suspect. I wonder if there's any truth to that?
Finally, I should mention that three of them filmed themselves with potatoes (May was even using a phone, held vertically, with extra shakycam), all of which made Jessie stand out as the only interviewee to use a full studio setup with atmospheric lighting, What a freaking weirdo!
