By the end of his life, he turned into a gun hoarder who openly complained about British & French people in his journals and pretty much did nothing else.

Hence all the ridiculous sperging about 'muh intersex' and 'doctors just randomly assign sex at birth, no one really knows!'

The only condition that comes close is 'true hermaphroditism' which involves possessing both ovarian and testicular tissue, and even that is extremely rare (only around 600 cases ever observed, and most of those limited to one particular location where it seems to be a genetic thing).

How is it possible to be so obsessed with a subject and yet not know the slightest thing about it? I don't understand how you can base your beliefs and decisions (up to and including life-changing surgery) on a theory of sexual differentiation that does not exist and is physically impossible.

Galileo's Middle Finger is a book by Alice Dreger that goes into this in detail. It can be a bit dry but is worth a read for any tranthropologist who wants to go deeper.
