The RPG.net mods are like the apotheosis of the "He does it for free" copypasta, but with a hyper-woke veneer.

The userbase is equally insane and are in some warped autistic internet version of an abusive relationship. It's quite frankly both morbidly fascinating and mortifying to watch.

At this point, anyone who joined after 2017 probably doesn't even play RPG's and just want to take part in their autistic culture war BS.

What's sad is that's a pretty good description, until the mid-80's where there were other shops selling all kinds of wild shit thanks to the tons of "XXXXXX Ninja!!!!!" movies.

Those little stores did good business, since a lot of times they sold hard alcohol if you knew who to ask.

But the mod adding that is probably 30 and the closest thing they got to the 80's was sucking on titties, shitting themselves, and learning to walk in 1989.

About fifteen years ago, it was a fun, free-wheeling place. They started going nuts around 2009-2010.

I feel politically homeless sometimes, regardless of what hobby I invest in. The lefties are the most obviously insane because of their draconian policies online, but the righties have their fair share of regressive bullshit too. They feed on each other to become increasingly crazy. Political polarization, political horseshoe. It sucks.

You can’t criticize fucking anything without being called either a bigot or an SJW. Fucking everything is a battle in the culture wars now, no matter how stupid it would be otherwise. This is destroying culture, not saving it.

To use one example, both sides of the political aisle have abandoned the hero’s journey. Female empowerment movies and japanese male fantasy animes are now all bland wish fulfillment fantasies about born perfect heroes doing whatever they want, whether that’s saving the world or more commonly acting like assholes who see the other sex as subhuman. Traditional egalitarian role model heroes like Ripley and He-Man have given way to entitled bratty sexist egotistical planks of wood like Captain Marvel and Shield Hero.
