And now I can’t respond to
@Gehenna . KF compromised by the censorship brigade confirmed??
You noted rightly that this form of political machinations becomes a bomb waiting to blow up, if it‘s your sole means of accumulating influence. This was completely intentional.
My issue is that mainstream Republican party doesn’t even try to get better at implementing controlled versions of the game, when they’re the primary victims of it.
Democrats want a Supreme Court nominee? That nominee goes through an extensive vetting process that almost guarantees that nominee will align with their interests. Republicans don't have this vetting process, resulting in
de facto 3-3-3 court.
Whoops, looks like bad news came for our Democratic administration. That’s fine, talk to our friends in major search engines and newspapers to bury the story. Republicans… I dunno, have Politico? But if there‘s a story they want to reach the masses, good luck.
Democrats need to solidify support with minorities in local elections, They canvas, host cookouts, and basically tie civil unity, good memories, and friends to the party. Republicans would rather sit in their comfy country homes and read Russell Kirk, but do nothing else.
I liken it to espionage in war. Sure, you
could avoid using spies and counterintelligence, for the rightful fear that overly relying on them will eventually make that intelligence operation permanent and targeted at your own populace. But not playing the game means you have no effective counter—ever. And that will sink you.
It‘s a balancing act, and one I won’t pretend isn’t risky. But I think it’s one that must be done. Thankfully, the populist wing of the GOP seems to at least be trying to do that. Let’s see how effective they are.
