Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

So someone suggested on Twitter that the plan at this point is to let Biden go down in flames and get a RINO in for 2 terms after him to smooth some of this shit over. The idea being they could pin any warmongering on the right, a RINO would placate the MAGA types upset after November 2020, et cetera. So you'll start to see some of the TDS RINOs like Coulter turn on the current admin while trying to tie as much as they can to Trump to ensure he doesn't run in 2024. (Look for him to be deplatformed from banks soon, so he can't even AFFORD to run.)

For what it's worth, something big is brewing that may save the fucking Democrats asses sadly:

IF Roe Vs Wade ever gets overturned in the next year and a half and the legality of abortion get kicked back to the states on a state by state issue, the left will see a HUGE fucking boost to drive people to the poles both in 2022 and 2024, as far as revitalizing the party on a state level, let alone national level in the name of reclaiming state governments to make abortion legal and in the case of national politics, finally passing a federal law saying abortion is legal (as Roe Vs Wade is the earliest modern example of the Supreme Court basically making law by decree.

Definitely. I've been saying this for a while now, the Right's obsessive focus on overturning RvW is, to their detriment, the one thing that can massively energize and unite the Left. I don't think the Right understands how disastrous this could be -- the Dems would be in play on the state and local levels again. Perhaps if the Right were smart, they'd find a way to creatively use RvW against vaccine mandates. But if there's one party that can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, it's the GOP.

So there was a TV miniseries back during Reagan in 1987 called Amerika which basically amounted to - in a "future scenario" at the time - the US had been infiltrated from within by the Russians for decades and eventually were officially invaded.
Up until the invasion, the Constitution and all the US' daily lives were still as they normally were to the public, but once it got far enough to admitting the system was phony they changed the US flag to include the hammer and sickle, split the country into districts, mowed down Congress in the Capitol, and killed all citizen dissenters.

It's pretty much been memory holed since then - gee I wonder why - and fuck if I can't find a more applicable scenario to our current events, whether it be the Russians or the Chinese.

Watched as much of this as I could stand, which wasn't much, when it first came out. Made my fucking blood boil. Some years later bought it on VHS. Still could only watch some. Still can't watch it now without the blood boiling.

Actually, this was shown just after the "the Russians are going to get us" period had ended, Feb 87, time when my son was born. From 84 to some time in 86, for some fucking strange reason many people thought the USSR could conquer us. The original "Red Dawn" came out, to a good box office. Nothing like seeing Commies getting killed by the bushels. Remember reading at least one short book, including the book version of "Amerika." In my particular job knew there was simply no way this was going to happen. The USSR was staggering from leader to leader and things were rapidly going to shit there.

Late in 86 everyone seemed to wake up, say "The Russians take US over? No fucking way!", have a good laugh, and forget all about that stuff except watching reruns of "Red Dawn" on cable. Ratings for "Amerika" were good the first two nights. Then the novelty wore off and ratings plummeted. This was the reason why the mini-series was never rebroadcast.

And a couple of years later I was delighted to watch the Warsaw Pact crumble, then the USSR itself give up the ghost. Felt like a huge weight had been lifted off me. I need not worry about my little kids growing up worrying about a Soviet ICBM coming their way.

Now the threats are different, internal as much as external. I sometimes wish for the 89-91 period back again, when the country was happier and the Soviet bear shown to be utterly toothless.

For people who keep saying "latinos only vote blue" you really need to dive deeper into this past election, especially in Texas. Zappata County Texas, a Democrat stronghold for generations, flipped for Trump in 2020. McAllen, Texas, a city that is 85% hispanic voted for a Republican mayor. The thing people keep forgetting is the relationship between hispanics and blacks, hispanics see blacks as the pets of the Democrat Party, they are the largest minority group in the US but they keep getting pushed aside and this is going to keep creating a wedge between the Democrat Party and the hispanic block.

I can see the uniparty believing that plan would work but it's mornoic. Fucking Trump over yet again and putting in a RINO will only cause voter apathy for the republicans. Are they then going to fortify the election for this RINO and not expect the left not to get as upset as the maga people are now?

Unless the RNC fortifies their primary system a la the DNC I don't see a way they can even get a RINO on the ticket. And doing that might actually be enough to drive the base to a new party. That's a huge hurdle in our system, to replace one of the parties instead of simply splitting that base's vote, but Trump had absurd approval ratings within the base and forcing them to go back to RINOs might actually be enough to do it.
