following on from the criticisms from inside (and out, but making their way into) his own camp regarding the food/beauty/fat video- and with a mind to how much he hyped and sulked over his biiig cameo request- the fact is he was trying to hook- for a cameo,to read lines, not to collaborate- an upper class, famously attractive, extremely normative woman.
he could bounced from it, taken the rejection and reached out to a fat woman in the media , whose spoken before about how their weight effects their job (in a non self pitying way, like kathy burke, or jo brand, or dawn french- all of whom would call themselves socialists, too)
there’s sooo many more options l, all of which would have resulted in such a better and actually insightful and authentic video.
he could have asked for literally anyone to come onboard just for the fact that he’s talking about something from a perspective he doesn’t understand and is yet trying to make it personal (with the awful cake-eating, croc tears)
he can’t even see nigellas potential involvement as anything other than a reflection on him directly-what she did or didn’t manage to say, as per his instruction, was less important than her as a device to mirror another angle of light onto him.
she’s already done this job as a flat cardboard cut out, not a real person with anything to say, and so doesn’t have to be replaced with any other real person with something to say.
as such, his video just doesn’t work.
again, it needs to be said-he never ever elevates any voice except for his own, and in this instance even his bumchums are really finding his stuff lacking for want of it:
Genuinely, it’s hard to tell if he’s getting obviously and objectively worse, or if it’s just been more noticeable for various reasons…?
