He also floated about making a competitor to 538 to break the narratives spun by it.
THIS. DEAR GOD THIS.
The left uses something called a Credibility Sink. Here's how it works.
If you have a 1000 idiots on Twitter screaming "that's not true" ... it doesn't matter. None of them individually have enough credibility to sway opinion, barring some major influencers, who have to waste their time (and credibility) proving it.
But if instead you have 1000 idiots on Twitter going "That's not true, Snopes says so" it does work, because Snopes has credibility that the left has sunk into it. It's not earned, in fact it's bullshit -- we all know Snopes is full of shit and controlled by some insane cat lady or soyboy covering for the left... but the left can still cite it, and they get a nice big "Not True" or "Missing Context" or "Misleading" thing to beat people over the head with. Sometimes the left even use their old friend Entryism to steal the credibility of some existing group, like the ACLU. Either way, this works. 1000 people citing Snopes or what have you works better than 1000 people citing random studies.
The left does this all the time. Politifact. 538. Snopes. The ADL and SPLC. Those Facebook fact checker sites they link to when going AKSHUALLY on your post. All of these are the same exact trick. They exist for the left to pretend they're credible and then use them to beat everyone to the right of Mao over the head with.
The right doesn't do this, and when they do, they do stupid shit like naming the site "Hatreon" or "PATRIOTFACTS1776."
If the right wanted to start winning this battle, they need to create their own Credibility Sinks. Sites that are professional and safe enough looking for Normies to not flee from -- so no flags, no "conspiracy theories," no ranting about globalists, nothing like that. Sites that provide enough value that normies will join the right in citing them, or sharing links to them. Sites that are punchy, that you can screencap just the summary at the end. And then the right can cite these Credibility Sinks to do the same thing back to the left.
Yes, they'd go "AKSHUALLY this site is a fake version of Snopes created by NAZIS" and if done right, that'll be about as effective as the right going "heh, quoting snopes / the ADL / the fact checkers in 2021." I.e., not.
