Here in Canada it's Commercial Surrogacy that's banned. A woman can personally volunteer to be a surrogate to someone they know but officially all the money passed to her must just be for living expenses. This mostly applies if there's a company involved arranging for the in-vitro and all that; so obviously if there's a personal deal between two people, no one's gonna get arrested.What's wrong with it?
If a woman consents to be a surrogate for a couple that cannot have children of their own, what's the harm?
This confused me but apparently there are some super sketchy commercial surrogacy companies that exploit people especially in other countries.
