Here in Canada it's Commercial Surrogacy that's banned. A woman can personally volunteer to be a surrogate to someone they know but officially all the money passed to her must just be for living expenses. This mostly applies if there's a company involved arranging for the in-vitro and all that; so obviously if there's a personal deal between two people, no one's gonna get arrested.

This confused me but apparently there are some super sketchy commercial surrogacy companies that exploit people especially in other countries.

That makes sense, I could see exploitation happening, but when no money (other than living expenses and medical care costs, of course) exchanges, I don't see the harm

Yeah. Honestly, I'm still fine with people doing it for profit if they really want to as a personal agreement. But holy shit, fucked up things happen when commercial surrogacies don't act as a broker between two individuals with strict rules.

Shit like, "Give us your semen and we'll get our partners in Moldova to invitro it into one of their sex slaves. Your baby will be ready in nine months, pending the mother isn't beaten to death by her pimp."

I was obviously talking about commercial surrogacy. Where you pay a company, that pays a woman to carry a child for you. I could maybe understand the case for altruistic surrogacy, but it still sounds rather abhorrent to me for a woman to carry a child for nine months, only for it to be taken away from her.

Surrogacy is one of those incredibly complex ethical questions where there are two very good arguments to be made both for banning it and for keeping it legal. Just like prostitution women are simultaneously the ones who benefit the most from it being legal and are hurt the most by it in practice. I don't think we're going to resolve this tricky dilemma on a thread dedicated to making fun of Trump fanboys so lets not waste ten pages trying to hash it out.

Said this before, I'll say it again:
They stop the counting at 2am or whatever. They run the registered voters list against those that have already voted (by 2am). Then they assigned fake ballots and/or simply have the non-voters vote. So they look like registered voters (they are) but they never voted.
The distributed these fake votes across precincts and counties so there is not a huge spike in any one area. That way under ONE precinct/county doesn't look too fake.
If FLORIDA would simply do a similar canvas they'd discover the same trick was tried, most likely. But Trump's lead was too big.
