I don't know if this has been brought up, but Typhoid Mary has been used as a slam dunk case for imprisoning asymptomatic cases of infectious disease.

Maybe it's just me but her story always made me sick (no pun intended). Imagine being incarcerated for life without being convicted of a crime.
Kind of a double-edged sword. Mary Mallon was treated terribly and she didn't--couldn't--understand why they kept punishing her for trying to make a living. Average people didn't know about germ theory, asymptomatic carriers of disease were rare and not well-documented, there was no way you could convince someone back then that they had a serious infectious disease when they felt fine. While she sickened a lot of the families she worked for, only 3 people are known to have died. I think the fact that children of affluent families died because of her is the only reason she was ever under so much scrutiny--one of them was the only child of a man she worked for and that probably sealed her fate. Of course people shouldn't just be allowed to spread disease wherever they go, but it was a VASTLY different time back then and quarantine was often the only solution to contain disease outbreaks.

With COVID though, now you have "vaccinated" people who are asymptomatic carriers who can spread the virus just as much as "unvaccinated" carriers. They promised that vaccines would be the only way out of COVID and a return to normalcy, the only way to herd immunity so that the people at risk who cannot be vaccinated can be safe, but the vaccinated are now the true "Typhoid Mary"s of the pandemic--the fictional Typhoid Mary that spread the disease out of callousness and selfishness. They think they're healthy and safe because they're showing no or minimal symptoms. They say they got the vaccine for the greater good, but they did it out of pure selfishness because they were afraid of getting sick. Now they're throwing away their masks and blaming the unvaccinated for getting them sick and not even stopping to think that their precious, promised miracle vaccine didn't fucking work. Every single day I see multiple people on every platform saying "I got the vaccine but I still got COVID and it's kicking my ass, this is the worst illness I've ever had, but at least I'm not in the hospital!" Either they're lying because it's been over a year since they've had the sniffles or they don't realize that the whole fucking point of vaccines is to either give you immunity from the disease, or to get your immune system to fight off the disease despite minor symptoms. If this is genuinely the worst illness you've ever had? Maybe the vaccine DIDN'T. FUCKING. WORK.

i've ALWAYS hated all the fucking "emergency measures" because they're all bullshit. imagine if someone said "i'm against the death penalty BUT if someone commits murder then it's fine"

and now shitlibs are saying "if that fucked up garbage is okay, then covid restrictions are fine!" ffs

@mdrop22
In fact I'm not even going to share my own plans, because I don't need someone who knows nothing about me telling me I'm a traitor or a retard.
I think today was my day for this. I'm going to stop. It feels like I've been open about it for longer than anyone else in my sphere, and now I'm just gonna drop it. Let them make their dumb memes and shit. I'm starting to feel too weird about it anymore.

So some crazy conspiracy from 4chan. Zombie apocalypse imminent. Are you ready?

AUGH YEAH :story:

Edit to clarify. I dont think its real, but at this point I d welcome whatever apocalypse. Just to break me out of this insanity and covid mass psychosis.

The size and power of an internal security service is
generally in direct ratio to the extent of the suspicion and
fear of the ruling clique. Under a repressive and autocratic
ruler secret police will blossom, a dreaded parasitical force
that permeates every element of the populace and the nation-
al scene.
-Allen Dulles, First Director of the Central Intelligence Agency

I'm going to guess that in the second picture "blacked out behind the wheel, Covid jab related?" is code for: "oopsie woopsie made a little fucky wucky while texting."

@ddw
Yes, things have changed. Places now have "Mask Required" signs outside. I assume the gestapo made the rounds. I have yet to see anyone without a mask in a building that has a decent number of people in it and/or has security cameras.
I will say I'm in the south and everyone here just generally respects each other's decision to mask up or not.

There are a few businesses that put back the "mask required" sign but people usually just ignore it and do what they want. If they're asked to put on a mask they usually just leave. Because of this certain shops have been EXTREMELY less busy since they decided to double down.

Masks at my local shopping center are on super wholesale and a lot (but not all unfortunately) of my liberal friends have realized a lot of this is complete bullshit based around a power grab. Lots of them openly despise Biden.

Things are more sane than what's on Twitter or the News my dudes. At least where I am people seem to be waking up and returning to normal, back like they were in 2019 (including hating on the current president lol)

i mean you say that. 2 years ago i know a guy who wished that life was as cool and exciting as it was shown to be in deus ex. i'd say god granted that wish pretty fucking accurately
i thought the apocalypse craze of the early-mid '10s was fucking retarded. why do people want to live in a world that's ruined? like yeah i get why but just move to the middle of nowhere and you already have more than half of the experience

last i checked the middle of nowhere didn't have constant riots and the ability to commit any felony you want as long as you masked up, like we had during the summer of george. that plus the free money from unemployment and the lack of stigma from moving back in with your parents and shits great.

DX was an amalgamation of conspiracy theories (Warren Spector said so, I believe) and generalized prognoses of where human society would move to.

DX world was inevitable in 1999.

Hell, if you want post-apocalyptic vibes just move to the Rust Belt. We've got it all. Disgruntled locals, rusted skeletons of once-bustling factories and mills, abandoned warehouses, overgrown houses that are halfway falling in, crumbling apartment buildings where deranged crackheads squat, everything is dead and brown for like 6-7 months out of the year, tweakers that will hack your catalytic converter off and heroin that isn't really heroin. Oh yeah, and angry niggers.

But those of us who live in the middle of nowhere don't want city people, they come here and vote for the same politicians and policies that turned their former hometowns into shitholes that they wanted to escape. I don't see how there isn't constant random violence in cities at all times, more so than there is now. You guys basically live on top of eachother and no matter where you go there's too many fucking people. Hell the traffic alone is a valid excuse to end the life of another human being.

The big plus of small town/rural living though is that life has pretty much returned to normal out here, and never really got too abnormal even when people were still buying into the hysteria. Well, until Thursday anyway, now the Rust Belt will somehow have even fewer fucking jobs, people around here don't want that shit and they will emphatically remind anyone of that who tries to get them to take it. Quite possibly the reminder will be the crack of a 5.56 past their ears. Just wait until some of the warehouses, factories, farms, processing plants and even trucking companies out in flyover country start having to lay off workers at the government's behest. Supply chain is already fucked and is only going to get more fucked. That's likely to make city-living very difficult indeed.

But still, fuck off we're full. Unless you happen to not be politically retarded.

They are giving us the choice of getting jabbed continuously or to get a covid test every week to prove our cleanliness. The test every week doesn't sound so bad but here's the catch: they're not gonna be free, you will have to pay for them, and it will cost you. (of course, who else will pay for all the gov'mnt fuck ups)

I'm not sure if i'm capable of finding a second job (I do clean-up) because they are fucking with us so bad. They might fire me soon anyways.
Future is so vague...

Went for my bike ride today. 3 hours, not the best weather for it but felt good to be out.

Lots of big groups walking together. Gangs of kids playing in the parks. People totally ignoring the lockdown rules. Gives me hope.

Unlike in Sydney the Melbourne police seem to give zero fucks about enforcing muh health orders. I drive long distances for work, well past curfew time, haven't been stopped once and haven't seen a single cop car on the highways.

The wife paid a local handyman to wash the cars and windows, neighbours came around to have a chat. Some friends popped over for a beer. Told them I'm not getting vaccinated, no one cared.

Today 450 cases in Victoria no deaths. NSW 1500 cases 8 deaths. Case fatality rate running at 0.3% in NSW. A literal zombie apocalypse! Even more worrying many of the 'covid deaths' were people dying at home. On some days half the deaths are sudden and unexpected with severe morbidity.. Autopsies ordered but results never released.

The Victorian government has urged pregnant women to get the jab as apparently they're dropping like flies from the coof. Of all the things that aren't happening this is the most that isn't happening.

The great retardation continues.

People yearn for transforming themselves but as long as there's Netflix to watch and Reddit to scroll they won't lift their fat ass off their couch. The fantasy of apocalypse fiction is that catastrophe imposes hardship on the protagonist, who doesn't get to make a choice. I don't remember where I read/watched this but Breaking Bad follows the same pattern, Walter White's transformation into Heisenberg is simply him becoming what he was always meant to be but "real life" constrained him into a meek individual who wouldn't rock the boat. The catastrophe of unavoidable death liberated him.
This also applies to all the reddit/twitter soy/bug people who love the strict lockdowns. They were scared of the virus but they could not make a choice. They did not have the savings to take time off work. They didn't have the balls to look for a job that allowed them to work from home. They wanted the lockdown to be imposed on them so that they didn't have to make a choice.
