20 years since 9-11. Apparently Joey made some speech somewhere, not that it matters. And I guess he recorded some drivel, again not that it matters.
Sometimes a national calamity galvanizes America to take a lot of positive actions, and ultimately, despite the sacrifices, come out better as a country. Most recent example of that I can think of is Pearl Harbor.
9-11 has not made us better as a country at all. The knee-jerk reactions were much too harsh overall. Still not sure if our continental air defense has been upgraded. We took the good mission of routing the Taliban from Afghanistan and setting the stage for free elections and turned it into a 20-year tale of stupidity and waste in trying to build a nation from a medieval quagmire. As a nation, America started running scared. When you have to make military language students do a threat assessment to have a picnic in a Monterey, CA city park things have gone off the deep end.
And we have paid a terrible price for 9-11, in so many ways. First, all those killed/injured/exposed to damaging substances that day. Second, the waste of Afghanistan's mission creep. Third, the accelerated loss of confidence, faith, and trust in government/law enforcement/judiciary/media at all levels. Please note this has continued while both Republicans and Democrats sat in the White House. Am sure anyone here can add more of the price paid. I cannot think of one single solitary good thing that came out of 9-11. Can you? National unity? Fleetingly.
And Joey, who was VP for eight years of this shit, just bumbles along like Mr. Magoo, not a fucking clue, just incompetent and useless.
