Jim is one of those people that I watched casually a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed with, then I checked back and he is a LGTQWTFBBQAI+ genderblob in a bad wig.

His most recent LP efforts are overall low quality, as others have said, but PRAISE ALLAH his "female" falsetto grates my ears. Why the hell do all fat nostalgic gamers have to troon out?

Hades' main plot is actually kinda wholesome, you play a young man bringing your estranged parents back together and repairing your relationship with your father.

There is some woke shit in it though.
Athena is a negress, you get to fix Achilles' relationship with his gay bottom, the main character has the option to either romance his dominatrix ex gf or the gay god of death. If you do both, they are okay with that. There is also a flying medusa-head servant who has a crush on the MC before she realizes that she is asexual.

I think the praise it gets is overall deserved though. The story is suprisingly heartfelt, it got some good songs, artstyle is nice, there is a great diversity of builds and weapons, and you can customize your later runs greatly.

I'm guessing its because it portrays the greek gods as multi-racial and because Zagreus is technically a panssexual polyamorous faggot. You can have sex with a medusa head, an emo twink and a dominating BSDM harpy, sometimes with multiple of them at once.

It helps that its a great game with a lot of difficulty options, so the journos and the troons play it on shit easy acessibility mode and get to pretend they beat it fair and square.

I don't think I've played it enough to see much of this, but I'm at least glad I haven't noticed the wokeshit while playing. It tells me that I'm not thinking about it as much anymore.

The setting & art style is so removed from reality the portrayls of the Greek Gods are basically irrelevant in my opinion. My attention was mainly drawn by the level design, which was pretty interesting.

I really wouldnt call Hades "woke". Its got the diversity stuff in there, sure, but it doesnt lose any characterization because of it. None of it is shoved down your throat or used for twitter points. Everyone in the game's cast has their own personality and they're pretty endearing overall. I put over a 100 hours in the game because it's gameplay loop is excellent and also because I wanted to see if everyone would get their happy endings eventually.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, none of the alphabet stuff is done just for the sake of having LGBTQIEW+ characters in there, and the character designs go way beyond simply race switching the greek gods and are actually really good and fun.

People who either don't like or haven't played Undertale will look at characters like Mettaton and Alphys lesbo-thirsting over the fish chick whose name currently escapes me and kneejerk assume it must be SJW propaganda, but if you actually play the game it really isn't.

Mettaton is a hyper camp androgynous character reminiscent of characters like Him from Powerpuff Girls or the leader of the Blue Meanies from Yellow Submarine. There's no agenda there it's just a legit weird character I'm pretty sure is based on Michael Jackson more than anything.

As for Alphys, the gay stuff really isn't over-hyped (they never even explicitly state being gay afaik) she just talks about how much she loves...Undyne, that's the name, and wants to date her. It's not like in typical SJW trash where they have to make being gay the sum total of their personality and every time they open their mouth it has to include mention of how totally out, loud and proud they are.

Beyond that I really can't think of anything else in the game that could be considered woke. Maybe the fact that Frisk doesn't have a stated gender, but again that's not a focus of the story; it's just irrelevant if they're a boy or a girl.

OT: I haven't been in the thread in a while cause the site is still running weird; have we noted/celebrated the fact Jim has hit the -60k milestone yet?

Funily enough, Jim might be looking at a new sub/patreon drop soon he can't cry transphobia over. He was dismissive of the Steve from Blues Clues video calling twitter "insufferable" for drowning his tl is something he doesn't care about. and other trannies/fags tried to cancel him for shitting on something others found wholesome and for QRTing some other tranny/fag and apparently his viewerbase caused said tranny/fag to private/delete, so he got cancelled for "dogpiling/siccing followers on a small account" with them telling him to "do better" and saying they are dissappointed in him, and Jim responded by not apoligizing and doubling down and playing it off as "discourse about a cartoon dog" when the real reason the other alphabet people were upset was him qrting and dogpiling a smaller account. Reminds me of dragon age origins then where you can sex zevran and be gay while also boning 1-2 female companions as well and by doing multiple people or separate it causes different outcomes with dialog and relationships.

It's Undine and I only remember it because it's from mythology. Undertale is great game to play on YouTube, but only if player is a really funny guy. Which is the case for all this modern indie artsy games. More style than substance, i.e. lack an actual cerebral well-designed gameplay.

I dunno that I'd agree entirely, the way the combat works is pretty unique and fun compared to any other turn-based RPG I've played and figuring out the mercy options was pretty fun too.

Having said that, there is relatively little substance to the gameplay outside of the boss fights, so it probably is something you play more for the quirky experience, yeah.

It's not necessarily a left/right thing, but it is a lot more visible on the left because its ideals and causes change a lot as time goes on.

Regardless (and not to derail the thread with unrelated political bullshit), what Jim does is what most people with low self-esteem do. They go with the flow of whatever group they're either in or wish to become a part of, and adopt their ideals and goals as their own in order to try to bolster that flagging sense of self-worth. Jim has been terminally online for a very long time now, so he's like an addict looking for that next hit of validation.

Unfortunately for him, he found the internet's opium den: identifying as transgender. He's plodded from trend to trend in the past, but I don't think he's escaping this one unless it's in a very large pine box.

It seems to me like the social justice extremist crowd have always not given a shit about the actual people who play games, giving deference to people who make them instead, so long as those developers tow the right social line. (AAA devs in the industry get no such benefit of the doubt, unless they are minorities and can claim opression and harassment). It probably originates from where the first autistic battle lines were drawn back in Gamergate, with supposed "devs" like Quinn opposed to the big bad gamers

You see this with people defending shitty condescending indie devs who took their games to Epic for exclusivity, and called all their critics toxic entitled gamer bros. You see it with people defending more and more, up the chain, as they get more influence in the industry. They were never pro-consumer, just anti whoever was dominant in the industry.

These are generalizations about the "gaming sjw" archetype, but I don't think that alone gives a full view of what's happened to Jim. I do think he used to be genuinely more pro-consumer, not just because of the rants against the shittier side of AAA business practices, but exposing crap devs wherever he found them, that includes the dregs of Steam Greenlight. In recent years, as he's been trying to shore up his socjus cred among that crowd, he's increasingly been going back on things he used to say, one by one. This shilling for a developer who had poor foresight and players who are using Steam's pro-consumer features exactly as intended shows his flip in opinion.

It is however, dependent on the dev in question displaying the right social signals, either in the content of their game, or on social media. If the person in question openly had expressed the same views as say, Scott Cawthon, or the Factorio dev, the video would be Jim praising the refunds as socially progressive gamers using Steam's excellent pro-consumer features to stage a revolt against bigoted developers, and they entirely deserved it.
