You’d be stunned at how the entire NE USA is basically hick central. Northern NY, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Maine are all like that.

Mass and CT are probably the only two states that aren’t like that, although Massachusetts has their own type of Irish Hick, and Connecticut is basically people who can’t stand living in Boston or New York anymore.

Nah, I didn’t realize it either until I spent some time up there. The style of redneck is a bit different (they all sound like Canadians lol) but there’s not a whole lot of difference in attitude between a white guy with a shitload of guns who lives in the woods in Maine versus the white guy with a shitload of guns who lives in the woods in Alabama.

A prominent antivaxxer where I live just died of the virus today after a week of being intubated, and his true believers immediately started coming up with the most ridiculous theories. Multiple people think he was deliberately poisoned by the Deep State, with one saying he made a mistake by letting the hospital intubate him because “that’s how they get the poison into the lungs”. Another suggested “the raw oxygen in the CPAP stage burned his lungs”. Of course, this stems from the man himself telling his followers once he was hospitalized that if he dies it’s because the government wants to silence him for telling the “truth” about COVID.

Man, I wish the government gave a shit about me as much as they think it cares about their stupid self-sabotaging suicidal conspiracy bullshit.

It's the Elgazzar et al paper, so yeah it was definitely that one retracted in mid July.

I understand that this article is the one where the mistakes were first pointed out, or at least it's authored by the medical student who is said to have noticed them.

My place of employment put up bulletins announcing the vaccine mandate, and the option to be tested weekly instead, all around the facility. In an attempt at humor, the bulletin says the mandate is also enforcing employees to wear ONLY Garfield band-aids, where they received their vaccination shot, no other band-aids, for a hour afterwards.

Most knew this was a joke and laughed. However, 3 of my co-workers took to screaming in the hallways, furious they were now forced to wear a cartoon cat band-aid temporarily. They have taken to protesting on Facebook, demanding Biden give them a band-aid choice, like a FREE and TRUE America should.

Some folks lunge at anything just to prove their politics, even if that anything is retarded.
