Not much to say, but I did get to vote in the California recall election today (the State is doing everything they can to get people to vote -staying open late, hand-waving people in with minimal ID checks, etc). While I feel content to have voted, the checking/verifying the polling volunteers were (not) doing shocked me. Almost a “when in doubt, fill ballot and we’ll check later”. I would not be surprised if non-residents (legal or not) were being “accidentally” allowed to vote.

Not sure how their lack of checking and verification would be shocking. It is Cali, after all.

Only been a Californian for a little less than 2 weeks (I'm surprised they let me vote w/o asking to see my Driver's License, which I'm still waiting for in the mail), so I'm not 100% sure. I do know 3 days after Tuesday is the time they're allowing for mail-in ballots to trickle in (as long as they are post-marked on the 14th or earlier), so assuming projections aren't extra bold, I want to say by Friday/the Weekend everything should be tallied.

I like to think that California fast tracked my voter registration and sent my voter card so quickly because they thought new residents would be Dems and vote blue. I think they will be sorely disappointed.

I've explained this a bit in the Kiwifarms wellness check thread, but school. Returning to finish what I started (3 years maximum). Old graduate advisor received funding for a project, used my previous degree and his academic Jew powers to waive all classes/paperwork/exams. It's bittersweet moving back to CA, but I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. Also, family lived here for generations, so that's a small bonus.
