[serious] is hololive (and vtubers as a whole) exploitative?

Discussion
(disclaimer: anyone familiar with me probably remembered my meltdown last december. i'll try not to repeat that incident, but do expect some jaded and cynical views)
a common argument brought up by naysayers is that hololive and vtubers as a whole is "exploitative" and "preys on lonely weak men." as much as we try to ignore and argue back, what are the chances they're right?
think about it.
2020 was arguably the best year for vtubers, especially hololive, thanks to covid. people in quarantine naturally felt bored, lonely, depressed and maybe even suicidal. vtubers proved to be a great distraction, and with a large (mostly male) audience tuning in and putting down the rope/gun to watch some anime girls and throw away their money to, it was the perfect storm for hololive... almost too perfect. with money and attention from almost around the world, hololive expanded and became the industry titan it is today.
that in turn leads to these questions:
is hololive (and vtubers as a whole) exploitative? do they prey on lonely folks who crave attention and interaction (ESPECIALLY from females)? do the hololem genuinely care about us, or is it just an act and they see us as easy money? what made us and them this way? what exactly is the attraction? what keeps us fascinated?

"Look at me guys, I care about the weak men. Bask at my compassionate nature (which is in no way an attempt to bring attention to myself) and praise me."

That got me a little curious, but all I could find from around that long ago was this post which is nothing too interesting. I was hoping for some entertaining meltdown at least.

[Doomer Warning] I'm beginning to have second thoughts about being a Hololive fan (and VTubers in general)

Discussion
in general, i've been a fan of hololive even before the covid quarantine occurred. i didn't really think much of it... until i saw glink's video discussing vtubers. unlike other content creators who praised vtubers, glink instead had a more critical and cautious attitude towards them. naturally, as a hololive fan i wanted to defend vtubers, but after a while i began to see things differently.
why? just why? what/where is the appeal? why does a 19 year old like me find this entertaining? why am i hurting my sleep schedule over this? at what point did i stoop so low where i find a girl roleplaying as a shark saying the first letter of the latin alphabet entertaining? am i cynically being exploited by yet another corporation that makes their talents (who probably already hate their job but have no where else to go) to put on a smile and act the way they are so we can throw our money to them?
...have we reached the part where humanity has failed as a species?
...or maybe i'm just reading too much into this? either way, i feel like i just want to get this out of my chest.

Edit: The "meltdown" just seems to be everyone down voting him to fuck in the comments, that's 5 minutes of my life I'm not getting back *sigh*

Screw that condescending prick. "Easy Money" my ass, a lot of them work their asses off for our entertainment. And I doubt most people would be up for sacrificing their mental and physical health like some of them.

As much as I hate Reddit that sub at least downvotes the fuck out of these kinds of posts. As long as you're just there to steal memes and view images its not too bad. That all falls apart once you click on the comments and it's the same fucking jokes over and over just like everywhere else on le reddit.

This retard's replies to people in the thread are even worse. I can't tell if it's bait or if this fucker is genuinely this mentally challenged.

Totally true tho. I'm totally being exploited because I like giving the funny autistic rabbit 5 bucks a month so I can watch her go on deranged rants for shits and giggles.
See, don't you get it? Like every other VTuber, Pippa is purposely preying on the demographic of suicidal, depressed, & lonely males just to make quick and easy cash! She clearly doesn't have any genuine passion for what she does either, and is just exploiting people desperate for female attention to garner easy cash! Her main appeal is obviously GFE parasocial relationships, and she makes no effort to denounce them! She then makes tons of money from her exploitation of said lonely simps, and thus obviously lives a very luxurious & easy life thanks to her numerous paypigs!

I took a chance and looked at their post history. Nothing but p0rn related to boots/thigh highs etc. Maybe even an irl post in said thigh high boots? Idk and idc, I don't want to crack out the eye bleach. I think its safe to certify as genuinely mentally challenged. This kind of retard posting is why I gave up on using the subreddit for proper discussions about Hololive. It goes straight into autistic drama shitting without any merit. Call me when one of the talents give a hot take on how dumb their viewers are for throwing money away at a 2D pussy they can't even get, then we've got something to cook with.

To add: yes, the farms might not be the best for dicussions about Vtubers either but you know what? It sure beats the other fucking options out there and at the very least if the same post was made here, the OP would be autistic'd, dumb'd and ridiculed out of the thread. Maybe even 41%

What would you say is the best place? Judging from everywhere else I've seen, I genuinely think this actually is the best place for discussion. There's no 'le sekret knowledge' bullshit here and everyone can talk about whatever they want related to chuubas.

Unrelated, but I think that this is worth documenting: WatchMojo followed Pippa on Twitter. :cryblood:

Didn’t Pippa already crack the code for Reddit?
She said you only need to use dead ass meme and horny post and bam ez karma farming.
Miko is a single mother. Rrat confirmed.
Now she is shaking what sounds like a baby rattle after losing to calm herself down
Bruh I push out a rrat last year on how Miko’s hiatus was her taking maternity leave so she can give birth to her kid safety.

The rrat about Miko and Peko on bad term (they used to be best streaming friend on NND before Hololive) due to the guy who’s both of their crush sleep with Miko instead of Peko.
