The Legend of Heroes Series - Possibly The Most Underrated JRPG Series

Richard was right about everything and the games go on to prove him right.
The reason these super-fast ships started appearing in Erebonia was because the dumbass Queen decided to sell their one edge, the Arseilles engine, to the empire during the trade deal. Hopefully they don't turn him into some bad Hitler allegory. He's the best "villain" in the series.
Didn't they explain it that they sold the engine because they were told that they'd be invaded otherwise?

Sky SC Liberl News Issue 1:
"According to reports from the Foreign Affairs section, the Erebonian Empire, Calvard Republic, and Liberl Kingdom have all agreed to enter into a treaty of non-aggression. Preparations are already underway to host the signing of the pact following the Royal Parliament's approval of the terms proposed by Queen Alicia."

Sky SC Liberl News Issue 4:
"Samples of the new model engines referred to in our previous article are to be presented to both the Empire and Republic as tokens of the peace represented by this pact. These engines are said to be the key to next-generation flight and such technological exchange is the promise made to those who promise to uphold the harmony between nations. Much is expected from Liberl's ace in negotiations."

It was the Queens idea. And while I hate her and support Richard in every sense, I'll play devils advocate and explain why she did this. Erebonia has this fortress next to Crossbell where they built massive cannons aimed towards the city which sparked an international incident. This is a throwaway like in CS2, so it might be a Coldsteel invention, but apparently Calvard was not happy with the super weapon aimed at what they consider their turf and were looking to team up with Crossbell for an invasion. The Queen realizing this proposed this non-aggression pact just to save lives. This is why Erebonians in the Sky games are so supportive of the whole idea. Alicia is essentially a pacifist giving up her weapons so the 2 bullies don't kill each other.

The writing in the series can be surprisingly smart, sadly it fades in the background of harem plot lines and battle school.

The harem cringe and dumb anime bullshit started as far back as the final act of Azure, which is when that game really started to shit the bed. In favour of smart writing, you now have god-awful exposition dialogue, characters behaving like retards so the plot could happen, memberberries, key-jangling and the flanderisation of returning characters so the doorknob-licking brainlets can clap like trained seals because they saw the thing they remember.

You can just say Azure, Lloyd goes and has a beach episode where he needs to pick which 10/10 bombshell he will put lotion on first.
He also gets a daughter(wife),
Ellie likes him, Tio likes him, Rixia likes him. I'm really not the biggest fan of the Crossbell arc. Even as wish-fulfillment it fails to me because Lloyd himself is such a boring character.

I like Lloyd conceptually, in a setting guilty of everyone being connected to some uber powerful entities, having a normal beat cop going against alchemists, super ninjas and world spanning organisations is pretty cool.

Rean (and virtually the entire cast of Cold Steel) are all mary sue background.
