I thought Daybreak 2 was good, but I started becoming disillusioned with the franchise's writing earlier than most people after replaying SC and seeing how the issues were there from day 1 we just hadn't been overexposed to them yet, and then experiencing how awful Ao was, and then playing the overhyped CS3 in which nothing happened. After that I wrote off the main story as it became clear there would never be satisfying payoffs. I would say that Daybreak 2 being a "filler" game actually does better than most games in that it doesn't have any storyline that was built up to stomp on and ruin. Yeah, the villain is forgettable, but I prefer that to being utterly infuriated seeing the writers shit all over their story yet again.
Charging $45 for alternate costumes is obscene. Given how Trails week 1 sales in Japan have been holding steady at 50,000 for the past three games (as opposed to 100k+ during the Cold Steel era), I have to wonder if Falcom knows the well is drying up and is trying to milk the cow as much as possible.
