Well you hit the nail on the head with that last paragraph. The people who throw around the term Nazi as an insult I've found to be extremely ignorant of any history. And if you were to demonstrate any kind of knowledge of Germany, WWII etc. you enter a bizarre Twilight Zone where that knowledge is proof to them that you must indeed be a Nazi.
