Isn't Baphomet a different character than Satan? Like saying Captain Kirk was in Star Wars or something?

Baphomet was seen as a corruption of Mohammed, and one early slur against Islam was that they supposedly worshipped this character, who was really Satan. This rubbed off onto the Knights Templars, who were seen as secretly Muslim. In fact, when they finally got around to torturing the KTs into confessions of heretical activities, among them were rituals performed to this Baphomet.

The sorts of silly people who currently call themselves borrowed all this goofy window dressing, so now use the Baphomet image, whether just for edgelord status and to piss people off or, if they're actually that dumb, "worshipping" Baphomet as a personal deity of sorts.

Aleister Crowley also used Baphomet as a symbol of, I forget, some of his usual drugged-up bullshit. Mainly because it looks kind of badass, I suppose.

I always find it funny to see how the religion designed around anti-authority and edginess always seems to come off as LESS dumb than the Christians who flock by the hundreds to shriek at their events like this. How dare we use the very first amendment to allow people to put up a big statue of the evil bad guy in my faith.

Baphomet is also the major symbol for the "Left Hand Path" of the occult. It's the path of anti-authority and taboo breaking too.

Christianity stopped being edgy and punk the moment the pope happened.
I remember there was this guy named Martin Luther qho tried to be punk and give more religion to the people but his followers in the future became super prudes.
prudes ruin everything.

I like Baphomet's design, and public art is pretty cool, so I'm fairly okay with this. The Satanic Temple like le tricking people though, which is a thing to take in mind.
