When was it even made? It looks like something from 2006.

Like 2011 iirc. My nephews played it a lot until they got Mario Kart and some other games. It's built around making kids beg their parents for $8-$20 toys that attach to it and spawn them as playable characters in game. So allowing people to create their own and then order it for $50 is the exact kind of brilliant marketing that will allow them to make a ton of cash off the shut in 40 year old (she)man-child market, too

It was basically the thing that inspired everyone else to do amiibo-style things. skylanders is why half the "video game" section at every retailer is now occupied by stupid plastic figurines.

This is going to sound really :autism: but... when I read the thread title this morning... I thought it said "Chris vs Koalas" and thought "what the hell happened on Thanksgiving?!"

Chris has over 10k subscribers, if his videos get even a couple thousand hits each, he's getting another couple hun a month already with just putting up autistic commentless letsplays with 20 seconds of begging at the start.

I have absolutely no idea what this game is about. Looks like Diablo for toddlers? Am I even close?
Still, a good dose of patented Chris video work. No video too short to screw up somehow.

A lot of the people that actually ordered amiibos from him never recieved them because he just took the cash and never delivered them. This is why his etsy was shut down.
In some recent videos you can see the massive trays full of them in the background if you look close enough.
Not a lot of people, some people. Of course, just a few percent of missed orders is going to get etsy to shut you down.
You had one job, Chris....one. Mail the finished products.

Don't tell me he thought collecting them was better.
No, he didn't have the finished products. He premade a shitload of sonichu amiibos that no one bought. Everyone was requesting custom amiibos, which means a lot of stressful work on his part to make them.

It felt like he vastly overestimated the demand for some of the characters. I remember him posting a pic of like 10-15 Blake/Black Sonichu Amiibos he'd made and thinking he's be lucky to even sell a few.

It's sort of like Diablo mixed with Spyro. It's definitely simple and kid-friendly, but they're actually pretty decent games.

This one in particular is a bit crap, though.

Are you suggesting that Chris doesn't grasp the finer points of supply and demand in a niche market?

Do you think he made money or lost money in the long run?

He made profit on each item sold. He did the math correctly for that.

However, if he's got a shitload of unsold merchandise, he'll definitely be losing out.

If you count the donations he definitely made a profit even after accounting for unsold merchandise.

I don't count most donations, because they're not really part of his business. That's just him panhandling. However I did forget about dstecks' contribution.

At least I got to hear the VA for Zim again. Glad to see he's in a role almost exactly like his old one.

I thought Kaos was supposed to be some online guy he would be fighting, not a boss in Skylanders.

Also, why does Chris's waifusona look like an annoying librarian?
