Not to get too off-topic, but why is that? I'm pretty hard left, don't get me wrong, but I find burning the flag to be extremely disrespectful. I'm just curious what other people think.

In this case, as others have said, if hypothetically Trump were to actually do a complete Constitution overhaul & challenge every Supreme Court decision ever to penalize people for flag burning, you know it would be welfare leeches like Phil, Nora, et al. who would be the first to go. The tremendous irony in a bunch of purported "communists" getting their citizenship revoked & their benefits stopped warms my cold black heart.

Well technically thats correct. Marx's idea was never implemented how he wanted it. But I think that says more about the flaws of his idea more than the governments that tried to implement Communism. Marx's idea never took into account that people who want power and are in power are a lot of times terrible people.

The only reason anyone would want to ban flag burning is because they are offended. In other words they got their feefees hurt. Europe, Canada and Brtain have laws like this about religion. They are called blasphemy laws and blasphemous libel laws and they are all bad. Banning flag burning would actually be banning intentional political offense. And And the irony is that burning a flag is how you actually properly dispose of it. (Is there a thread for this shit in Deep thoughts or something?)
