Well this is the saddest update I've read in a while. *sigh*

I wonder if Chris realizes something is wrong. He may be dumb, but he's not half as crazy as Barb.
He didn't like the hoarding, even. But, he feels powerless to stop Barb's crazy decisions for the both of them because she's an aggressive crazy bitch who dominates him.

He's as crazy as barb, just in different ways. Barb is a hoarder, Chris isn't. And yes, Chris is dumb. He's disliked living in a horde for years, but I doubt that he really knows just how fucked up his situation is, or is going to get.

Just wondering, is she using most or all of the payout that she did receive to repair 14 BC and it's not going very far because it's such a small sum, or is she just diverting a significant amount of it to other things (i.e. that new car they just bought) and spending as little as possible on the actual repairs? The picture you're painting of 14 BC's current state is pretty bleak but I'd have to imagine that if they poured enough money into it they could make it reasonably livable again.

Oh god, PLEASE tell me Barb isn't that crazy.

I doubt Chris would understand something is wrong until after they return to 14BC. Even then, I don't think he has the ability to understand the dangers of the situation and his focus would be more on the discomfort he experiences.

Yeah. I have a hard time imagining that he wouldn't notice the house smells strange and that there's mold everywhere. I just don't think he has the intelligence to do anything about it. Even if he did, I doubt he could stand up to Barb.

Hopefully his new heartsweet is advising him in his best interests, this time. The more information that unfolds here, the more I worry about Christians legitimate well being. Barb, on the other had... She had a good run. If she's potentially going to risk her disabled son's health to satisfy her weird needs to hoard and find safety in familiarity, then my opinion of her has started to bottom out :heart-empty:

Chris is just wondering why these problems are still plaguing his life even though he has a heartsweet. Everything was supposed to fall in place once that happened.

When I say realize something is wrong, I mean like when an animal gets spooked and refuses to budge. I doubt he'll know what's wrong, but I'd like to think he'd feel uneasy about his "new" surroundings.

This is a guy who both jacked off in the kitchen and previously slipped on cat shit...also in the kitchen.

I mean, from all accounts it seems the chandler pets are no longer a factor, having either been given up or run off following the fire, so the distinct lack of "domesticated" animal shit would make the house infinitesimally more sanitary.

But to Chris, as long as nothing is immediately harming him in any way, he will simply not give a shit until it's too late.

Then they would have a completely legitimate lawsuit on their hands and maybe get a little money from it for people doing a shitty job.

95% of the time, "shady contractors" are going to be one step ahead of that game and have probably skipped town by the time you get to the point you're going to file a lawsuit.

I dunno man.....in picture #4, right under that slab of torn up drywall....there's something withered and furry with beige with brown stripes, but I can't make out exactly what.
Might be a strip of insulation, but insulation is usually grey or pink.
Might be foam upholstery from a loveseat, but its wayyyyy too "furry".
Might be a mangled bit of macrame, but I don't know if Barb has ever done macrame before.

I'm only seeing faded insulation. Could you circle what you're talking about or something?

OH MY GOD PATTI NO

but seriously, i think you're reading too far into the junk. it just looks like insulation or some other debris to me.

Fair enough.

Sorry folks, no bricks to be shat today. Move along. Nothing more to see here.

Judging by the size of the water bottle nearby, that's too small to be an adult cat. A kitten, maybe, but I don't think they ever had a kitten that I know of. Still, much more likely to be insulation.

Well, I was looking for a cat that was "shrivelled" and thus not full size anymore.
The more I think about it though, a mummified cat would get eaten by the local wildlife pretty quickly.
That scrawny chunk of fluff stood out for me because it seemed like it had "facelike" features.

Chris buys multiples of the same Lego set, and even video games, but he's not a hoarder? I heartily disagree. Chris' hoard is just smaller and/or digital.

The LEGO multiples are for specific parts to build his projects. I'd say Chris has hoarding tendencies rather than being a full-blown hoarder. He 's very materialistic and likes owning stuff and even takes pride in his various collections. But I wouldn't say he actively hoards in the same way Barb does or is mentally/physically incapable of throwing anything away.

To be TRUE and HONEST, I just want Chris to keep going forward in life. Yeah, he's fallen back on bad habits and childish behavior recently, but his lifestyle affirmation, a new car, and a new sweetheart are hopefully putting him on the track to a fresh new saga of Christory.

I fear that if Chris does end up moving back into 14 BC, it's going to hinder his progress of going forward. The hoard returns, bad habits become reinforced, basically all the shit no one likes stays the same or goes back to the way it was. Returning to an awful place like 14 BC is like returning to a toxic relationship.

I am at least hoping that the idea of moving out and away from Barb is at least an option in Chris' mind.
