1998 Platformer Glover is Getting a Steam Port This April - Love the Glove

One of the best things about the game was its soundtrack. It had some banger music.
Yeah ngl those tracks really slap.
Because Piko lives off the scraps of the videogame industry, buying licenses to games no one cares about, so that they can later license them to cashgrab retro consoles or sell repro cartridges.
But this is entertaining! Like some sort of nostalgia trash goblin, rooting around in an IP dumpster for something useful. But there's no way this is profitable. I thought Glover and Lara Croft were both shit titles back in the day. But now Lara Croft is great and Glover is still Glover. What's my incentive to buy? Oh, completionist autism. I'm glad I don't have that.

👍 👍 👍

Glover was okay. but suffered from awful controls, no matter which version you were playing.

It concerns me that they're using the N64 source. IIRC the PSX version had a feature where you would get an extra heart container from getting every collectable in a world. This is the only thing that made Glover playable IMO.

don't buy from these scumbags

Glover was one of those games you enjoyed when you are younger but doesn't age well as you remember.

I would be more surprised if they took that Glover 2 proto and turned it into a finish product.

Because it's a lie. Guarantee you majority of the people that actually spout that nonsense are fakers/posers/imitators trying to act like they're real gamers when they really aren't. At most they probably heard about the game, played the original for like a day or two and then hopped on the bandwagon because FOMO mentality and they want to be just as cool as the other kids.

Easiest way to catch them in their bullshit is to ask them a very specific question that only REAL fans of the game would actually know the answer to. When they start to crumble and throw strawmans at you or move the goalposts, that's when you can walk away knowing you just won that argument.

No. I like Gex too, but the 90's cheesy/corny charm needs to stay in the 90's. Current year would ruin that shit completely by using an insufferable "comedian" to replace Dana Gould and whomever they used in the Euro/Aus versions
I don't know why people here keep saying that shit. My family had a copy of Glover for N64, and I loved it despite being bad at it. Nobody is faking. Plenty of people owned the game.

Also, Gex 64 was great. I want a port and modern sequel.

A few tracks aside, the PC version's soundtrack is better since the tracks are uncompressed.

Some of the best tracks:
00:00 Track 1 (Atlantis 1)
04:26 Track 3 (Atlantis 3)
07:28 Track 5 (Carnival 1)
15:38 Track 9 (Pirates 1)
20:17 Track 11 (Pirates 3)
23:52 Track 13 (Prehistoric 1)
34:53 Track 18 (Fortress of Fear 2)
40:38 Track 21 (Out of This World 1)

Didn't care for the PC version of the Pirates 3 track (20:17 Track 11 in the video above). I prefer the "seagull" version from the N64.

It's because of people who will lie about having played obscure games for clout (for example if a popular youtube channel makes a video about it, or if the game gets a remaster/re-release). This means those of us who did genuinely enjoy obscure games will most likely get lumped in with the liars whenever we try to discuss said game.

Also I'm a bit biased in favor of Gex 64, since it was the first video game I ever played. Still holds up pretty well imo.

Played this game a few times threw the years. Owned the PS1 version, I always found it kinda hard. Never finished it.

Believe it or not, I kind of wished that Glover was a character for Smash Bros. Ultimate. Since they added characters like Banjo and Kazooie and Simon from Casltevania, I was wondering why they could not do the same for the glove.

Plus, Glover had some of the most spacey-like levels that I’ve seen in the N64 version:

I only briefly played Glover back in the day and didn't think it was anything special, still cool to see it get a second chance though.

You know what the world desperately needs though is a re-release of Illbleed.

Companies are a lot more litigous when it comes to parody content these days. I remember a few years ago an anime had the first episode literally pulled from circulation permanently due to companies getting upset over parody content potentially "damaging brand image" or some shit like that. They blatantly have fucking blatent woody and sonic parodies as characters there's noway in hell disney isn't gonna try and pull some legal shit over that. I fucking hate current year so fucking much partly due to shit like illbleed and ape escape 3 being literally unportable solely due to outright bullshit practices between companies these days.

In this day and age?

Forget about it. The game journoscum would be frothing at the mouth at all of the "NEEDLESS VIOLENCE" and "PEDOPHILIC SEXUALIZATION" of Eriko.
This too, honestly. It's kinda like the excuse journos give for MOTHER 3 Not being released globally because "negative backwards trans stereotypes" with the magypsies.
