Nathan Barley. Amazing foresight, prob couldn't get away with that level of statutory rape material these days.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCX8LEIWybM A bit like Bo's David Blaine segments, idk if they'd get away with those even tho it feels like it's satirizing PUAs. Shazam!
Never understood the appeal, basically every episode has the exact same plot. I couldn't understand why people kept raving about it.
Inbetweeners does have its flaws, namely that characters do lack depth compared to something like the Office. However as a vehicle for funny dialogue and situations it's one of the best written when it comes to that. But you never truly care about the main characters, hence why the finale and movies, while decent (haven't seen 2) don't inspire a great amount of satisfaction because they never built the audience's connection with these characters beyond token scenes with Jay and Simon. Neil and Will get little to no development and no one gets any that's permanent. Side characters are also either rarely used or get zero depth. Like I said, great show but it's a classic just because it's funny not because it's a masterpiece of character drama or a pioneer in a genre
Ah, forgot he was 90s. Showing my age.
No worries. I thought Father Ted was 2000's because of the vibe of it but the camera quality is too low

It's not really nostalgia and only kind of 2000's since it's still ongoing, but over a year ago I watched Doc Martin on the TV and I really liked the show. It's about a highly skilled surgeon who developed a fear of blood so he moved to some shithole in Wales to work as a GP, oh yeah and he's a socially inept sperg. I enjoyed watching it so I might as well mention it here, maybe someone else knows it or will check it out out of curiosity.
The thing about Doc Martin is that it is about a painfully annoying middle class man who is every single middle class stereotype I hate about the middle class and I am too autistic to tell if it's a subtle comedy or a bad drama. Fucking amazingly accurate portrayal of actual GPs. though. Spot on.

Eastenders has gotten really hilarious by the way. It's like The Room on a council estate. And Phil Mitchell has successfully ressurected himself from death several times. And last time they put his reappearance in front of a church just to really rub it in. I find it hillarious that for all the awful shit Phil has done, he's now a massive SJW who supports his gay son and murders bigots. But is still Phil Mitchell.
I've watched The Inbetweeners. Funny but I found some of the jokes a bit too mean-spirited, though it's probably the aim they're going for
That's literally how lads talk when they're that age. Inbetweeners was popular because every bloke could see themselves in the characters. Yes Lads could be mean spirited to one another but it was just banter m8.

For my own nostalga. I present Raven

I've been re-watching it and it still holds up but fuck me Raven himself is bitchy to these kids. It's something I only notice now as an adult. But he would fucking destroy these wee children who just jumped in a freezing scottish lake for a race, dripping with water and clearly shivering and Raven just goes "Hmm, some of you did better than others I see. Disappointing..." If you went on Raven as a kid you have my respect. These kids got fucking battered physically and emotionally.

Look here. There are moments where Raven is just directly slagging off how useless these kids are to the camera and they just have to act passive like they don't even notice him whilst he lists all their many failings for all the nation's kids to see.

https://youtu.be/K1iifyImWtk kind of interesting is while i enjoy watching behind the scenes and promo material of some of these other shows, because i never saw these of the inbetweeners i dont really vibe with the aesthetic of them out of character as the things are airing. They come across as more early youtube nostalgia than british tv nostalgia. Still good videos tho

i remember the raven. I refrained from including stuff that is intended for kids in my op because i feel those only are interesting to recommend a watch or rewatch if you saw them as a kid. Except for horrible histories but thats moreso early 2010’s. Other kids tv shows i remember are my parents are aliens, secret show, watch my chops and atomic betty (tho thats canadian/french), trapped, jungle run, etc. I welcome anyone else to talk about those if they want tho

Does the increasingly bad decisions of Todd Margaret" count? Was that even british?
Shaun Pye was a writer on the show and Blake Harrison and Sharon Horgan were co-stars so technically yes

2000s British TV was a fucking weird time
Ah yes, Sugar Rush. The drama about 15 year old lesbians that included sex scenes.

To me Skins from what I seen didnt sexualize or ow the edge teens nearly as much as foreign stuff does. Look at american and french shit like Euphoria and Cuties, or lolicon people. I still think Inbetweeners got it the best tho. Even the attractive actors are made to look plain and unfuckable

The Royle Family
I wish I watched more of this. Royle Family was a really unique. Really likeable show. Tho its not laugh out loud funny clip fuel

That was a brilliant series. Caroline Aherne was an incredibly talented woman.

Steve Coogan did some great stuff. If you haven't seen Saxondale, you ought to.

That and TV Burp
yea but who cares? Most geniuses are assholes. He probably made it up because she died to get publicity, like that Norm accuser

I mean the most negative thing I can find about him is him and Bernard Sumner fighting over money like the miserable Mancunians they are
