I turned on a euro football game and apparently they decided to broadcast a street brawl instead? I sense the ratings going up as we type!
Seriously though, without Altidore for any length of time this just turned into an uphill ice-skating endeavor for the US. That kick to the nose of Dempsey was pretty sick too. I'm mildly concerned that Jurgen has decided to impersonate a badly dressed US tourist for the tournament apparently while Ghanna's coach looks great in that suit and tie on the sideline as well.
Howard made a pretty quality save in the first half then a few minutes later muffed a clearing opportunity but so far so good, hopefully they can keep the second half even on the scoreboard and get out with the upset!

Anytime you can get outplayed for 80 minutes and still escape with an upset win, it's a great day in group play. That corner conversion was an awesome reply after their plan to put the game in the freezer for the remaining 89 minutes of play came up about 10 minutes short. Nice to have the proverbial monkey off the national team's back, now just beat Portugal and lock up the berth in the elimination stages next week!

Such an ugly win, but we lost 2 starters due to injuries so we should be cut some slack. And 3 points is 3 points...especially in this tough group.
Funny that this is the first time Ghana really outplayed us and they end up losing.
imo they weren't better in 2006 or 2010.

The U.S.A. just needs to win and we are through to the round of 16.
Portugal is all bruised and beaten just like us...and the stadium we're playing in will be really humid.
The draw between Germany and Ghana really helped us out.
